So are you saying that there are any Wiganners Not going to this game compared to our "Average" Home support or even say a Derby Game against Saints when we normally have around 14/15/16/17k home supporters? If they're not then questions should be asked, seeing as it's an RFL event why not ask them? But seeing as the total sales have passed that figure I'm pretty sure they are going.
If they are all going, which I bet 99% are then basically my point stands and the fact that 10-15% of Wigans population look they'll be there on the Night. I think that's a pretty good effort given many circumstances.
If I was asked to go and Sell a product where 200k people live and get 20k+ turnout & somewhere were 3/4 million live (Nearly 4 times that amount) I would expect to sell more? Is that not a fair assumption? Especially when the Base market starts at around 15k to begin with?
No problem with any of that, but we've had pretty much 20k on for a Stains game in the past and took considerably more than that needed to fill the ground to OT for the GF - hence why (at the moment) the excuses for why we might not fill the ground look a bit lame. Especially when the finger has been pointed at the RFL, the day and time, but not at ourselves.
Given it's the first time we've played in this game since winning in Brisbane in 94, you'd have thought tickets would be like gold dust.

And heres my point. Which one of the 14-17k regular attendees of Wigan RLFC (Who I class as Ourselves) are not going? If anything more than 2/3% are not going then I'd be worried (5% at a Push ) The other 5/10/15k have obviously shown by their non-attendance of regular league games etc (Even Saints Derbies coz we only regularly get 15-18k Home fans) that they will pick and choose their games. Their entitiled to do that, but I'm not going to worry/criticize people who don't regularly attend for not attending when :- a/ I don't know how many have been sold b/ I don't know their personal circumstances c/ We are getting what seems like Way above average crowd for this game
PS
Nice of Odemwingie to do a runner when the Flak starts flying!
St Helens, due to move out of their 120-year-old ground at the end of the season, desperately wanted to mark the occasion with a victory in front of a full house.... And Wigan were left celebrating inside the enemy camp for the first time since September 2003.

I'd class ourselves as anyone who supports Wigan including the 30k+ who went to the GF. We'll see what happens on Sunday, but given the obsession with other clubs attendances (even in other sports) on here at times, the defensiveness when it's been turned around onto us is quite amusing.
When Maurice sold me to Leeds something changed, it just not the same, the passion inside me just wasn’t the same as running out at Central park for my hometown club. We need a change of culture here; we don’t want to be just happy with playing ok on Saturday at St Helens. Ill make sure that from now on things will change, that players will be under pressure and will train a lot harder than they have before. Shaun Wane 8/10/09

20th: Wigan The Latics don't have any fans, yet alone any famous ones.

makes you no less of a fan if you make one game but don't make another.
take my girlfriends grandad for example, he's been a massive fan of wigan for many years but a few years after the move to the (then) JJB stadium had a heart attack and now struggles to go to the matches at all due to health reasons, so he watches all games on sky nowadays. just because he doesn't attend it doesn't mean he isn't a fan nor does it mean we have a pack of glory hunters in amidst our fan base who only turn up when they like and again, they can do that if they wish as it is their choice, whether down to choice or circumstance.
anyone who goes to every game and feels they are a better fan simply because they attend all matches is being a little petty if you ask me.
if you are going to bring up the MM weekend, the RFl shouldn't have popped it smack bang in the middle of the RU cup (whichever one it was - i'm not a union fan) especially considering wales were playing the same weekend.
blame the powers that be, not the fans, whether armchair, pub or attending.
This is very puzzling, we have gone from having around 1400 North Stand Tickets available last night down to 750 available this afternoon. When you look closely, the entire left hand side of the North Stand has been bought up in one hit.
