That would make Wigan strong favourites then. With Ratchford at FB and Patton with Cronk in the halves, I think we'll do very well without Sam.

I could see Hansen coming back in. Having said that, we have moved on. He made his choice, it was a very bad one, we made ours and signed Bateman. Hansen was brilliant for us 3 seasons ago, but who knows what 2 years at Salford can do to a player!

Wouldn't want any of them at Wigan.
Hansen's ship has sailed, we don't need half backs and Paterson is not what we require.

We need an experienced (say 31 year old) NRL centre to do 2 years until Gildart takes the 4 shirt. A long minutes big carries and numerous tackles prop would be good too.

That's my wish list anyway!

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.

I wouldn't be gutted if Hansen or chase came. Smith is very ordinary and chase can be sensational and a positive, disciplined environment like Wigan could well do that . As for Hansen we are seriously missing a solid workhorse with experience, a level head when our backs are against the wall.

I'd plat sawdust if IL even considered signing Chase. Not a player I would have anywhere near the club. He reminds me of Denis Moran. Enough said.

If that's kosher, it would be about right.

I'm sure Hansen was financially richer after he left Wigan - just about - but I'm not sure he'll consider it was the wisest career move.

A shame. I liked him so much, but as others have said, you can't help wondering what a 30-year-old Hansen would be capable of (or not) after two years at Salford.

When you look at signing a player you ask yourself, "Is he any good, can he fit in and is he better than what we've got?". With Hansen surely he can replace the departing Larne Patrick and improve the squad.

Is there really any argument that says different?

Wigan have been proved right to let him go and get Bateman, but if he was happy to feature when others are injured, I'd have him back.

As for Chase - brilliant on his day, but we will give Hampshire the chance to prove his worth before buying in another half back.

And we don't need a left centre for two years. You can already see the improvement in Gildart from the beginning of this season. Any more of that and he will be ready for next season, no danger. However right centre is different, like many others I'm not convinced that Gelling is the long term answer there.
