Wire have done the right thing with Ratchford in plucking him from a team below them on a relatively low contract and letting him improve with them to a point where he's on good money. To take him from a side like that means he goes from good wage to a great wage and he's not to that level.

He's our Sarginson in truth. If Wire tried to sign Sarge for example we'd want a big fee and he'd want fortunes! Is he worth it? No chance but he is a very good player.

The Mole is always right. It will be weird playing against Pat, they must be giving him an absolute fortune and he's going for one last payday. I'm sure the reason he went back to Aus was because he wanted his kids in an Australian school though.

He's usually right but he had us signing Hardaker last pre season so definitely not always. Would hate to see him playing against us but at 34 if he's getting a decent wedge off Catalans then good luck to him. Wouldn't surprise me if ended up staying in Oz one way or another though.

Would not be surprised if Pat fancies a go at living in France.

He came here at the height of his NRL career using his the opportunity his sporting talents gave him to travel and sample life outside of Oz.

Always respected him for that as much as his skills. As we have seen with Sam T unless your heart is in it 100% moving overseas is not a decision to be taken just for a big pay packet. You have got to want to do it for its own sake.

I'd have him back here even at 34. Nothing to suggest he has any fitness issues and is showing up as a top class player in the NRL. He can kick goals better than anyone in our current side and his drop-outs turn last ditch defence into a tactical advantage. In contrast our drop outs are lucky if they reach the halfway line!

Pat Richards can still do things with a football that no-one else seems to be able to do: not Thurston, not anyone.
