I love how people simply dismiss stats when it suits them.
I simply do not think that Briscoe is the next big thing like many on here are making him out to be. I've seen him play both live and on the TV and I’ve yet to be wowed by him but yet reading some of the comments on here he's the next big hope of English RL?
The stats back me up on this one. He’s got comparable numbers to other wingers like Blanch and Broughton who were playing in far worse teams. Lets not forget that although Hull FC weren’t great last season they still had enough to finish 6th in the league. When you compare him to other play off wingers like Hodgson and Hall he’s found serious wanting on all aspects.
Dismiss the stats all you want but sadly he’s neither standing out on my tv or on the screen.
I honestly can’t believe people are saying we should pay a transfer fee for him? That would be the biggest waste of money since Ritchie Myler.

You can't dismiss stats, but you also can't use them as the fulcrum of your argument. Stats are very subjective and are never clear cut. For example, the stats for the number of tackles made wont demonstrate the importance of certain tackles.Like making an 80 metre chase back to tackle a player on a break or like that world-class tackle made on Peter Fox in the Hull derby. You also have to acknowledge that Ryan Hall is playing outside of Keith Senior in a very good Rhinos side and David Hodgson was having Brett Hodgson laying tries on a plate for him in a very good Huddersfield side too. They're going to get far more opportunities whereas Tom Briscoe was playing in a very, very mediocre Hull FC side coached by an utterly atrocious coach in Richard Agar and it's not like he's blown out the water in terms of stats by either player.
The lad is a top talent.
