Carmont has a second year option unlocked on him making a number of appearances this year, can't see him walking away from that. Riddell still has 2 year after this, at the moment I am taking the him wanting to leave rumours with a pinch of salt.

It does look increasingly like Pryce's position is in doubt in the squad for next year, does not seem to be getting much of a look in at the moment and when he does get a chance the clock is against him, he needs a major impact right from the off.

I'm certain that Pryce will leave unless something drastic happens which is a shame in a way. The lad has god given physical abilities but wheather it be injury or attitude he just doesn't seem destined for a top level rugby league career.

The way Carmont has started this year he looks a good bet for that clause to be triggered. He had a couple of quiet games first up but really improved from the Wire game up until going off at Bradford.

As for Riddell he only has one year left after this but I think he'll see it out tbh. I actually think he's doing a pretty good job at the moment of just feeding that backline with good ball. He initially signed a 3 year deal with Roberts signing for 4 years.

Brett Finch anyone? Rumour on the Wakefield forum linking him with them, great organiser 4 or 5 good years ahead of him, possible replacement for Deacon next year. Signalled his intention to come to SL for 2011.

I was over in Leeds yesterday and was told much the same thing by an Ex Leeds player was also told the John Kear was pretty much nailed on as the new England coach and would be announced next Month. How much truth there is in it i dont know but your a man in the Know in Yorkshire i think.

has he not got a real attitude problem though?. I may be thinking about someone else but is Finch not Willie masons drinking buddy?. Good player no doubt about it but perhaps more trouble than he is worth?

Saying that though now that we have a backroom enforcer in Wane, that sort of thing may not be an issue.

Personally i do not think that we need another halfback, Sam and TL are both very good players in there own right. when they click we could have a very strong set of halfs, Deacon's present will only help matters. After that we have plenty of talent comming through the reserves.

Do we need a replacement for Deacon though? Finch will be wanting to play every week, who do we drop? Sam? Tommy? IMO Deacon is having more impact on Sam and Tommy at the moment than he is when he's on the field and lets not forget we've got Joe Mellor sidelined. We've already got Deacon as coach next year at least and im pretty sure he could play another year if we were desperate, instead of wasting cap on an Aussie coming here for his pension stopping Mellor from getting a few games if needed.

mellors injury will set him back a bit we wont see much of him this season i dont think in the reserves. it will certainly be interestin to see who madge wants and who he doesnt want at the end of the season.

I'm not expecting huge changes for next season tbh. We've gone down the route of bringing 5 and 6 players in with the same or more leaving and it never works because it takes too long for these guys to gel.

In an ideal world I think we may just see a couple of exits(possibly Feka and Bailey) with a top class front rower coming in for the start of 2011 and Hock coming back in part way through the year.

The only other issues are wheather we'll keep both Carmont and Deacon on and as it stands I think we probably will. I'd be happy for us to make a move for Danny Brough is he moves on from Wakefield but it's not life or death that we need him.

i really don't want danny brough at the club. Would rather stick with sam and tommy and look for a world class prop. Mcilorum will be back soon enough and deacon can fill the supporting hooker role for till then, possibly longer depending how long it takes MM to get rid of rustyness and get up to match fitness/sharpness

I like Brough but i apreciate some don't. It's really just a name a couple of people are throwing in the mix in all honesty because he's out of contract. The club in all probability don't even have him on their radar.

I can't wait for McIlorum to come back and start putting pressure on guys like Riddell and Deacon. He'll be superb in our current set up imo.

As for the prop I agree totally. We've needed a big no nonsense prop for a couple of seasons now and this off season is a huge chance to get one. There are a couple of guys coming off contract in the NRL like Luke Bailey and Josh Perry that could be tempted over here. Another prop I noticed was coming off contract is Michael Weyman from St George who is a huge bloke. He'd be a real long shot because he's pretty young and broke into the NSW side last season but you never know.

I'm sure Maguire will have his eyes on a couple anyway.

There's a few twitchy bums on here:

In addition, Wellens another year older (and another yard slower), can see big problems for Stains next year unless they spend big. But with the stadium in progress, will 'The albino one' get his brass out?
