On the flip side, it puts pressure on the clubs to produce quality players. Maybe a short term decline in SL standard will benefit the SL and the home nations in the long-term
Hopefully mate, but how many quality players do we have already? Not many! At a quick count - Tomkins, Burgess, Graham, Ellis, Briscoe, Hall... That's pretty much it, maybe Hock & Westwood. I don't buy into the imports stops production theory, if they're good enough they'll come through.
Quick question. Is the drop off in talent a result of your fantastic younger players such as Mickey Mac, Charnley, Goulding, Mossop etc getting well deserved better deals and Tomkins getting a better deal last year? I'm not sure of the contract situation of these players.

Looks like a troll attempt, but I'll reply anyway.
Obviously when a young player comes in and earns themselves a new deal their wage will rise which leaves less on the cap. Quite how much we're paying I don't know but we must have some spare wonga somewhere.
Just posted on the Blake Green thread, according to the WEP on Wigantoday.net green is a done deal. Transfer fee agreed etc so he's our stand off next year. I like him, I'm happy and now to find a big hairy ar?sed prop!
The original poster may have thought it useful to suggest that Solomona chose Warrington over Wigan when leaving Wakefield due to more money at Warrington. Unfortunately he chose to ignore the fact he signed for Bradford from Wakefield and only moved to Warrington after two injury wrecked seasons at Bradford on a significantly reduced contract. HTH.

Well that's the halves sorted for next season. We now need a centre and a prop forward for 2013. Seeing as IL & SW have been on the case for some time and boxed off the Smith deal months ago, it gives me the impression that they may well be on the way to have sealed the deals on a centre and prop.
Just one small matter remains, this season! Let's hope this one can come right.

I don't see why we need a centre. We've got Goulding, Gelling, Thornley and Hughes for next year with John O'Donnell as cover from the under 20's plus I'm sure Josh Charnley and Rhodri Lloyd could also be used at centre if all the above options weren't available.
If we sign a new centre then what was the point in signing Gelling and Thornley.
For me a prop is obviously the most important signing for next year now. I'd also like to see a hooker signed to provide cover for McIlorum. If he's injured we're a bit short on numbers. Smith can cover hooker but I think there's still no young hooker coming through the academy that is good enough.
If we could get an experienced player like Matt Diskin for relatively cheap then I'd be happy with signing someone like that, otherwise Danny Addy or Adam O'Brien from Bradford perhaps.
