Taylor is an cracking young prop and I rate him extremely highly but he's not a pack leader and never will be IMO.

If and only if what has been rumoured is true regarding him still wanting to move then I would look at options out there. See what Hull are offering and see if Hull KR would accept an offer for Micheal Weyman.

Baffling if true. Hardly anyone knew who he was before he signed for us, likely he would fade into obscurity again after a couple of years or so at Hull. I wonder if they, or any RL club, would show him similar loyalty if a better player became available for the same money.

Taylor is a very good young prop who can only get better in the right environment, but I have said numerous times on this forum since he signed that he probably would not stay after his contract.
No club pays what is reputed to have been a large fee (a figure of £100.000 thousand has been quoted) and only gives him two year contract with a further year in the clubs favour. The year extension is only there to protect the clubs outlay if the player wants out and I personally think that extension in Wigan's favour is the only thing keeping him at the club.

But why not sell him on and claw some of that money back, which is what I've suggested all along. Why keep a player who doesn't want to be here and is costing us money. I honestly don't think he has performed as well this season as he did last.

But what would we get for him, £40k? Is it even worth it? We'd probably have to keep Dudson as well if he left.

If he isn't going to be arsed next year then yeah I agree but we are much weaker next year without him unless we recruit big. Tautai or however you spell his name will not fill the gap left by Taylor and I don't think Sutton, Pettybourne or Dudson will step up.

If he wants out, give him an out... on condition.

Make it very clear to him that if he helps us to a Grand Final win and plays out of his skin, we'll let him go for a fee. Without that motivation I fear he will plod along in the playoffs, and do the same next year. Let's get the best we can get from him in the next 5 weeks, then get some spending money off him

Who could be a potential replacement for him though, anyone in Super League we could get, and are there any decent front rowers OOC in the NRL?

Taylor will only sign for Hull FC.
They are not willing to pay a fee so they will sit out 2015 whilst he plays for us.
It appears he will then leave being OOC and go to Hull FC.
If that's been a life long ambition all along then he will fulfill it.
What happens to his career is another matter as Hull FC seem to be a train wreck of a club.
It seems that anything that can go wrong there does go wrong. They are a mess!
Why can't he do like Morley, have a great career at top clubs then return to his home city for a last couple of seasons?

A twitter profile called "Hull FC news" tweeted this morning

"Hearing that we could be trading Ben Crooks for Scott Taylor along with 50k"

No idea how credible this is, but on the scale of things it appears the best outcome for all parties. We need a centre, Taylor by all accounts wants to move to Hull and Hull want him, but Wigan quite rightly want a fee.

The thing that is of the utmost importance is who can we bring in if we allow Taylor to go this year?

Taylor for Crooks and cash would be a good bit of business as I really rate Crooks and think he could really develop in the right systems but only if we have a quality, experienced Prop to replace Taylor.

MM and Locky are very much our pack leaders, you would imagine Joel will develop into that role as he gets games under his belt but we need leader in one of the 4 props we use on a match day. Flower could well develop into that role and when he turns up he is outstanding but I feel we need an older head in there, I feel we need this even if Taylor stays to be honest.
