Why on earth not? He will have fulfilled his contractual obligations and as he is one of the best props in the league will have hopefully helped us to some more success which is the object of the exercise, as opposed to cashing in by selling you best players just because you can.
If he knows his future is settled with move to Hull (if that is what he really wants) I see no reason why his form should be an issue. Plenty of players are professional enough to give it 100% before leaving such as we saw with Pat and Tommy L.
If every time someone flashes their wallet, Wigan jump we won't have much of a quality team. We should be able to afford to let players see their contracts out without trying to extract a transfer fee and for any player within 12 months of their contract expiring I don't think it unreasonable for the club to insist they do. It is hardly standing in their way if they already have the next contract at another club waiting to be signed.
It has been on the cards from the day he signed on for two years and a further 1 year in Wigan's favour that his intention was to leave at the first opportunity .
If he had wanted to stay he would have been asking for a longer contract and not the Wigan club agreeing on only a two year deal as long has they had the option of a further year, I said this at the time he signed (and last year when it reared its head again) that the club should not be paying a large fee for a player with the club having to insist on a further year in their favour .
It was obvious to me that his stay was intended to be a short one.
As Davo has said Taylor if he stays the extra year he will have fulfilled his contract, it is the clubs fault for not being able to negotiate a longer contract.
