We don't seem to have much luck with homesick players.

Mind you, homesick for Sydney or Brisbane I can probably understand.

But homesick for Hull??? When it's only an hour and a half up the motorway???

She'd better be a lass in a million.

Hull FC are 11th in SL. If they are in the same position next year relegation awaits them. Would Taylor sign for them in those circumstances? I'm not sure he would.
I reckon IL is right is keeping him as how well Hull do next year is anyone's guess.
On the Hull board someone reckons their owner called Leon Pryce a marquee signing, that leaves us in no doubt about their standards. How Taylor would fit into that I've no idea.
He maybe going home but I feel he'd be going backwards!

Firstly this is excellent news and imo gives us one of the, if not THE, strongest pack in SL for 2015.

I think it's a true testament to Taylor that it's hard to think of anyone good enough to replace him. For me he's without equal in SL when it comes to props in his ag bracket.

Secondly I'm more than happy that we've not taken the cash. Taylor literally is a key figure in how good our pack looks next season. To lose a player of his calibre for ££££''s in the bank would, imo, be a mistake. As I've said above I can't see who we could realistically sign that would match up to him.

Hopefully we can now work on talking him into a 5 year mega deal.

If he doesn't sign a new deal I still would be far from surprised if he wasn't here at the start of next year. I doubt Lenagan would let him walk away from the club for nothing at the end of 2015 and he may well look at lowering his asking price.

Hope I'm wrong regardless of him signing a new deal (which I'd love to see) but I just get the feeling this may raise its head again and it might be a last minute thing before the start of next season.

Sadly you are probably right.

For me Taylor will play a massive part in any success we may have. I don't think we should be too scared of him walking away for free in 2016 as he could very well be leaving a champion. That, imo, would be a good return on the investment.

Serious question - do title and cup wins weigh as much as dollars in the bank? Personally, as a fan, I think that they do but I know others think differently.

As a fan the money side of things will always come second and trophies have to be the number one priority. If that means letting the odd player run their contract down for the sake of a better team in the short term I'd be happy to do so.

That's me being a naive, daft supporter though with no business sense. Ian Lenagan frustrates this daft fan at times but he's a fantastic leader. He simply can't be questioned whilst the team is performing and competing for honours. He's bought himself people's patience via the results we've had since he's been at the club and if he decides to move Taylor on to ensure we don't miss out on a fee in 12 months I'll not complain (and certainly bit if we find a John Bateman style replacement).

I'll like the bloke even more if he ties him to a fiver year deal mind!!

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

I'm not sure it's the correct decision. I think it's better to get a fee now, invest the money into another player or youth development.

Just my opinion. As long as your feed through from below is good and/or your recruitment is right then it makes commercial sense.

Like you I would be happy to see him stay, but if he goes for nothing next year then I think it is a poor decision.

Letting him go for a reduced fee and not recruiting a quality replacement would be a bigger mistake. If Hull aren't willing to pay our asking price then we should keep him.
