Mellor in my opinion will be farmed out to other clubs until Finch leaves, he will be the natural successor and game time at other SL clubs can only benefit him and more than likely them as he is a cracking player but needs games. I would not like to rely on him for a full season at a club hoping to go for trophies.

Getting Roberts off the wage bill would be a massive boost. I would expect he has a weighted contract with the bulk of his salary being paid in the final year of his contract.

Its a shame really as were it not for that injury at Wakefield we could have been talking about Roberts in the same circles as Renouf etc when it comes to great overseas signings.

Until I read the notion of a deal involving Mellor on loan and Roberts permanently I was somewhat sceptical about the Chase link, but the structure of this deal being touted does seem very much an IFL way of going about things and adds considerable weight to the notion we are negotiating a move for him.

For now I think we need a 6 to replace Deacon if he is to retire rather than a hooker. Clarke is an excellent prospect and someone we should look at to replace Tommy if he does decide to go to the NRL when his current deal expires.

While we're raiding Cas for players, isn't Arundel off contract at the end of next season? Would be a good replacement for George.

Heard from 2 different people today that we are definately in talks with Rangi Chase, there is something going on here.

At least with rumours like this it seems we're after using money to sign some more quality!

Looks like more substance to the Lauaki move from Hull to Wigan. He has potential, but needs a lot of work in terms of fitness and attitude to me. The loss of Washbrook and Dowes, coupled with Epalahame Lauaki's move to Wigan, will leave Hull needing further recruitment ahead of next season. http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.u ... story.html

I would sign Clarke from Cas no danger, best time to get him is now so the transfer fee will be low.

Just read on twitter that at the Bradford bulls fans forum it's been stated by their chairman that Wigan are not spending the full salary cap.

Don't know why this was said there but there you go!
