The Tomkins tackle was odd, but it defused what could have blown up. I think a slap on the wrist, not a ban.

Ah Van, if he go sending off sufficient I really struggle to see that Smith would be banned. An attack to the head is rather more serious.

When it comes down to it i feel it was a combination of frustration and petulance. Wigan got away with murder for 60 minutes and then all of a sudden they get penalised for every minor transgression which they do not understand because what they got away with before was now deemed to be foul play.

Widnes level things up and Handbury goes to celebrate toward the crowd. He decodes to veer to another patch of crowd and realises Smith is in his way and they bump slightly, Handbury turns to congratulate his player and by this point Smith thinks Handbury purposely pushed into him so he turns round and in retaliation swings a kici at him. Has to be a red for me. If Ah Van see's red for a clumsy hit then Smith has to for deliberately making a foul play of that nature.

Why would it make any difference if it was red or yellow for Smith?

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.

Great to see that we are still a team of cheating, useless, thugs.... And there was me, worried that we had lost our way...

Because for one, has it actually been worked out what Smith was yellow carded for? There is a dispute as to whether it was for the original kick or for berating the touch judge while he was behind the sticks. If the latter then he hasn't even been penalised for the offence.

He was sent off for the remainder of the game and the incident will be looked at by the review panel, so it didn't matter if it was red or yellow did it?

Don't see what the fuss is about.
Smith was a tart and deserves a warning no more no less.
Joel T couldn't sort out a fight in a nursery. If you are going to go in at least do it properly.
It's a game of rugby for gods sake. I want aggression and plenty of it as long as it is controlled.
Someone said Wigan got away with murder for 60 minutes! Doing what?!
Widnes deservedly got a point and we need to get back to playing a more open type of game.
I don't like calling referees but Child's is petty, inconsistent and never seems to be in control of any game he officiates in. He's a poor referee for all sides. If all referees were like him I would cease watching league immediately.
My only concern is one raised by several people and that's Liam Farrell who had a poor game and who needs to get back to breaking the line on a regular basis and stop all this tough guy nonsense.
Those people who think that Wigan are the only team who play with aggression and have a coach who encourages aggression need to wise up that ALL teams have players, coaches etc who think, play and encourage others within the team to play aggressively.

I hope that the review panel judge Smith's petulant kick irrespective of the fact that a ban could rule him out of the world series game,
IF he is found not guilty and doesn't receive a ban for the offense then that imo means that kicking an opponent is tolerated does it not?

Hypothetically speaking here, but should Smith get off "Scott free" with his kicking incident then what would happen if an opposing coach instructed all 13 of his players to take it in turn to kick Smith the next time he celebrates a Wigan score?
A crazy point i know but.........It's clearly not a sending off offense is it?

I have never been Wane's biggest fan but he seems hell bent on trying to make your side a team full of aggressive thugs and i believe that could prove to be both his and your downfall if it continues throughout the season

Well it does actually, as it raises the chance of him get him banned, because it negates the chance of him getting 'sending off sufficient .'
