Worst idea you've ever come up with, don't think Roberts at centre would work. Doesn't seem big enough or powerful enough or even have the quality passing skills to be a centre.

Beg to differ here, whenever Roberts has drifted across and passed he has shown he has great passing skills, I'm sure I remember a few bullets right on the mark. He is a quick finisher, but I do not think he would suppliment either Richards or Ainscough, as their styles of play do not match very well, unlike that of say Carmont and Richards.

Which is why if Carmont wanted a two year deal, I would be very tempted to do so, however a contract that gives him one year with the option of either another year playing if both sides agree or some sort of coaching role to help bring through Goulding/Thornley/Pryce if he is not playing, would be preferable, as he over the past two years has shown up most Superleague centres, and I would rather we kept that ability and expertese with us than let it go elsewhere.

I think its a job for Wane to sell the club to LMS.

I would be thrilled to sign Louie McCarthy Scarsbrook. I think he is a top player and will most likely be a regular England international IMO. Would love him to play along side Paul Prescott.

BUT I would not enter a bidding war with Bradford for him. I would only get him on a free. With Paul Prescott, Eamon O'carroll and possibly Ben Davies around the place and much more room on the cap from Fielden's likely departure and maybe Feka's I would sooner wait till 2010.

IL is not stupid enough to go into an agreement which puts him at a disadvantage to the rest of SL

With the way the RFL has bankrolled and brought Quins back from the brink of death on more than one occasion the last thing they would do is force a backer of Quins to pull out of them by trying to force his hand or put restrictions on him. If it was any other club imo that IL would have owned previously to buying Wigan the RFL would have been a hell of a lot more tough with him.

Obviously this is all just speculation on both parts from me and you Dave but I’d tend to believe that if a player was at Quins who IL really wanted we’d go for him if other clubs were sniffing around.

Well it isn't supposed to be allowed for someone to own two clubs so it's IL who owes the RFL the favour.

But regardless of that or what the rules may be I believe IL will stay clear of going after Quins players while he is technically still the owner.

What is with all the Carmont talk? I thought he was contracted for next year, or are you talking about the season after?

According to the papers, we sold Farrell because we were about to sign Sonny-Bill Williams.

He's not signed for next year. Apparently we've offered him a 1 year deal and he's trying to get a 2 year deal.

I can’t see how he does? It’s the opposite way round imo as he’s doing the RFL a favour by staying with Quins. If they forced his hand and a made him pick Quins would be in the poop.

But regardless of that or what the rules may be I believe IL will stay clear of going after Quins players while he is technically still the owner.

Guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one Dave.

While I think LMS is a good player I think he is being a little over hyped, I certainly do not rate him as one of the top Props who qualify for England never mind in SL.

I see a little of the Thorman syndrome in this one, a lad going pretty well from a non heartland area and the press jump all over it. He needs a few good seasons under his belt yet for mine, i think he has not had the impact he had last year.

If it were a choice between LMS and someone like Griffin, at the moment I would have gone for Griffin.
