Any chance all of this Salary Cap debate could get moved to it's own thread?

I see a couple of new pages added overnight so assumed there'd be a rumour of a signing.

Unfortunately it's yet another tiresome game of quote-athon tennis

Mentioned this earlier in the thread. I was told by someone with strong links to Cas that Burns was all but a done deal for Saints but now is more likely to come to us.

I hope this proves to be correct. I do think we need another 6 for at least 2 years to fill the void that will be left by Green.

I see no reason why we cannot do this and continue to develop Powell, interchange hooker and back up half, Hampshire, back up fullback taking over from Bowen in 2016 and Williams, duel reg in 2015 and on loan to a SL club in 2016 or 10-15 games with us and duel reg in 2016 with a view on him hopefully making the grade and becoming a regular in 2017.

Wigan made an enquiry for Travis Burns last week, It's public around the Hull KR club. Of course, enquires happen regularly in Rugby and don't always amount to signings but I think he'd be a good signing for Wigan.

You have to wonder about Sam Powell's position if we were to sign Burns. He's 21/22 now and he doesn't look out of place at superleague level. I can see why the club would want an experienced competitor like Burns but if I were Powell I'd be considering my position. He needs to play week in week out at his age now.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of swap deal.

This story has been going around for much longer than a week. Either way if any of it turns out to be true it is a positive for me as it shows we are looking for a 6.

Exactly. He's still only young, let's not all pretend that it would mark the end of his career. At the end of the day, Travis Burns is a better 6 than Sam Powell so I don't think it's fair for people to criticise the club for wanting to sign him.
