I agree to an extent but neither of Gelling or Sarginson have done enough to nail down the 3 shirt. Sarginson has been used exclusively on the left apart from the Dewabury game and Gelling gets chopped and changed from right to left depending on who's playing on the other side. Goulding has been iffy this season and at 26 I can see why we are letting him go if he's no longer an automatic pick, but next year's squad does seem to be lacking a quality replacement.

Incorrect, it was purely because he was offered a 1yr deal by Wigan and a 3yr deal by KR.

There are so many people in the know about Goulding's financial affairs - was there an e bay auction for him?
We won't miss him, and he will struggle at HKR, I fear (but hope I am wrong). What he is good at is giving Josh space and time, that's all the centre on that side has to do when Josh is fit and well. If you don't have a Josh (as we have seen this year), he isn't nearly as effective.
Good luck to the lad, though, who has shed blood for the cause. I hope he fills his boots over the next 3 years.

With Goulding defending out wide instead of Sarginson I think we would have beaten Saints. Sarge is a long way off being half the centre Goulding is and Gelling for all his improvements equally still has a long way to go. That's not to say that Gelling/Sarginson will not improve and for all we know may even surpass Goulding - that has to be the thinking the coaches have. It's a risk. We do look very weak at centre for next season as other posters have pointed out.

Rads saying Sarginson is developing in to a top class centre is incorrect. I know they're not going to bag him but he's gone backwards in the position from the start of the year. On the plus side he's been excellent at fullback and pretty good when playing on the wing but he has so much to work on at centre it's hardly worth considering him as an option there at the moment.

We've got Thornley as our only recognised centre for next year IMO.
