I really can't think who would be involved in a player swap. Most of our fringe players are either off contract or players with quite a bit of potential. Cas have been rumoured to be interested in Jack Hughes before but if they want him they can dream on. I'd rather Wigan keep Hughes and not sign Chase. The same would go for several other promising players at the club.

Mellor is out of contract. We can hardly include him in a deal when they can sign him for nothing anyway.

Rangi will be a massive risk, it could go either way. We're lucky that if it goes completely wrong we've still got class players to pick up the pieces unlike Castleford. If it goes right, with Sam, Rangi, Charnley, and Hock as our biggest attacking threats, we will be very hard to stop.

If there was a player swap I can't see it involving anyone within the top 25 of the squad as they are all either first team regulars, promising youngsters or recent signings.

We'd be looking at the likes of Hughes, Russell, Tomkins, Powell, King, Burke, Spencer, Crosby and Carberry.

Of those the ones I wouldn't be too worried about leaving are Tomkins, King, Spencer, Crosby and Carberry; but the likes of Hughes, Russell, Powell and Burke should definitely not be allowed to leave.

Perhaps Russell? If you sign Rangi then Tomkins will be staying at 1 for the considerable future, where will Russell fit in?

He'll be gone in 2014 when his clause runs out probably. It's impossible to keep hold of top talent when the vultures circle, a la Eastmond. If he does go I just pray it's to the NRL and not the dark side. I'd prefer him to stay at Wigan in all honesty (I'm shocked I've just said that) as it's the club that made him what he is today.
