Where as Danny Orr came into a dying team and struggle for all but 3 months of his time here we need to remember just how bad it was. When he got a decent pack and a decent coach with a good scrum half he played well. But when you play for a side that the fans think it should be in the top 2 every season then someone can become a scapegoat. Problem for Orr is that he is a good organiser with a good kicking game problem was that Faz was organising the team and once Faz went he looked lost for various reasons.
Danny Orr also had to have the great Moran with him and lets be fair in 2005-2006 we were awful mainly due to the age of the side and injuries which led to Nobby taking over. Whilst everyone remembers how well Dobson went for us some have forgotten how well Orr went in the last few games as well. Unfortunately it was too late and we did the right thing and got rid of him. Sometimes a player can go to a side thats going downhill and he can really look awful. Lance Hohia for Saints has looked poor at times but he is not a poor player a beaten pack is hard to play with.
As for Chase there is a real lack of quality 6 and 7 in SL atm its that bad that i do think we will have to pay a fee for Chase. Chase is a decent player and has been for a while. He is the best English 6 but thats not saying much. NRL cap has stopped us going there ofr one though Soward rumor is still doing the rounds. IL has a choice and either way i do think signing Chase will be the better option as i do not want to see Sam Tomkins going to 6 as its a waste. He is the best full back in SL by a mile and the most destructive FB in the game i feel.
Smith and Chase is a much better option than Smith and Soward who shoots off home at the smell of a big NRL contract blaming homesickness.
