Just tallied it up on the website and it comes to 19885 (I think), which isn't bad just under 20K three weeks before the game. I think with some heavy marketing after the Millenium Magic we could come very close to a sell out. I still remain optimistic we can achieve a sell out at the DW stadium.
I was watching the 1994 WCC against Brisbane last night. What a herculean effort from our boys that was. A packed ANZ stadium, with Aussie fans booing our side out as they entered the field, Andy Gregory and John Monie had tipped against us to win. No-one really give us a hope in hells chance with Kelvin Skerrett and Andy Platt missing, as well as the inspirational Dean Bell. But led round the park by the fulcrum of that great side Shaun Edwards and an outstanding display from a very young Jason Robison we ground out a famous win. The determination, desire and passion from those players just fired me up for this one. Those Brisbane boys wanted it, but we were too determined, tackled harder and had a better kicking game. One of the finest moments in Wigan's history. The clip of our lads lining up to our national anthem to a deafening silence fills me up every time. At the end that proud moment of Shaun Edwards screaming "respect! respect!" whilst lifting the trophy. What a moment in Wigan's history. So pumped for this WCC game. The chance to hold the record of the most WCC wins and consolidate ourselves as the best Rugby League team in the world AGAIN - who would have thought of that in 2006? Hell who would have thought of that at the start of 2010? Absolutely fantastic. Should be a very special night at the DW - looking forward to it.
Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS
I don't think it's outrageous that we need to sell 5k 3 weeks before the event. Around 15k who went to the GF have not bought a ticket yet and people will only naturally buy tickets closer to the time. I expect it to sell out and I think it would be a massive disapointment if it doesn't. It will be one hell of an atsmosphere if it is full though! Can't wait!

Cadoo does the 19885 shown on the Wigan e-ticketing system take account of tickets allocated to the RFL but not sold? The RFL have recently released tickets back to Wigan which has caused our e-ticket site to show more tickets available. However, having said that I still think we should be able to sell out with 3 weeks left.
I heard an advert for WCC on Wish FM last night too so hopefully the marketing of ther game will start now that MM is upon us.

It will refer to the tickets the RFL have to sell, not what they've actually sold.
So the 19,885 would be the attendance if we sold no further tickets, and the RFL sold everything they've got.
I have some 17 x 12 ones which I shall be giving out at the flag meeting on Wednesday, so if you want one of these, get yourself down there, 8.00 pm, The Anvil, Wigan.
