| Quote moto748="moto748"As said, a kinda no-win situation: we were expected (expecting?) to win, and we did. But yeah, Mago and Cooper went OK, Bevan is on fire, Harry is playing well, and Msrshy was back to form. I always like to watch the game back before making definitive statements (especially with my lousy eye-sight, but that's another story). but I thought although Cust looked better, he didn't really seem a dominant figure.'"
I wouldn't bother watching it back. I couldn't go tonight and it was a pretty terrible spectacle on TV. Not sure why Sky picked that game - pretty much every other fixture is more interesting from the neutral's perspective.
Injuries and suspensions are decimating the competition and I'm not sure what the sport can do about it. You can say go easier on the suspensions but they've been tough on that to try and reduce the number of injuries so you can't really win. I wonder what would happen if the RFL didn't impose suspensions but raised the financial penalties for poor discipline.
The upcoming loop fixtures are a problem too - more games against Toulouse and Wakefield don't appeal at all. Bet the players can't believe their luck with playing three games at Bell Vue.

| On the plus side - Marshall's first try was terrific. Great scrum play with Cust utilising the dummy runners brilliantly.

| I just watched the highlights back. We scored some nice tries, and improved our points difference. I don't see any need for long faces. I agree about the loop fixtures, though.

| It's strange how games like that are not satisfying. A good win is a good win, no matter how disrupted the opposition is by injury, but the excitement was lacking.
I don't feel down. Last week proved that we are still a long way from the finished article, so there's still lots to work on in the Wigan camp, and in that regard it's pleasing to see several training ground moves result in tries. But matches like that one, plus the one against Hull FC, just remind me how weak SL is overall.
Both FC and KR are contenders for the top 6. That's a real condemnation of the British game's standards at present.

| Yeah, it was a little underwhelming because after seeing the team sheet and then being 20 points up inside 20 minutes I was hoping/expecting a 60/70/80-0 drubbing. Fair play to Hull KR they had next to no chance before the game and that went even worse with the players they lost but they kept fighting. After seeing a number of their players go down I was just happy we came out of the game unscathed and had a fairly easy ride, far from vintage rugby by us but on to the next game which could be tricky, Warrington have a decent side on paper and if they can turn it on could be dangerous and if they can’t get up for that game then they’re in big trouble.

I don't think they will be in the end (two from Cas/Salford/Leeds for me) but I would say it's harsh to judge either Hull team on current performances as their injury situations are quite horrendous.
I didn't think last night's game would be very enjoyable and it wasn't long before the T20 was on my telly! Rovers just too many out for it to be interesting.
What's the latest on french by the way - is he still rumoured to be off at the end of the season?

Re. French, if he gets an NRL offer he's probably gone if not it sounds like he's got a two year deal with us on the table, hard to see a top NRL going in for him, they've all got outstanding fullbacks/wingers so it's wether being back home with his family at a no hope club is better personally for him than staying over here

We didn’t come through unscathed. Powell is going for a scan today on his foot and French was having treatment for a leg injury. O’Neill has also copped a two game ban.

| Cooper with 136 metres from 16 carries highlights that we’ve signed the type of forward we’ve been crying out for over the course of the last decade. It’s a shame we couldn’t have got him years ago.

Smith didn’t lead with the elbow, it was a clash of heads that caused the injury, Smith then caught him on the way down then stuck his elbow in whilst on the floor, the kind of thing you see 10 times a game.

That’s true but in fairness to Cooper, he’s been knocking those sorts of figures out for years. His pace off the mark and footwork are extremely impressive. I’ve stuck up for Singleton but he’s the polar opposite in terms of speed off the mark and it’s why Saints find him extremely easy to deal with.

Singleton is rubbish, Cooper is decent.
He’s a big signing for Wigan is Cooper. A big step up on some of the options.

Cooper and Havard are our metre eaters. Smithies is the best 13 in the comp.

Let’s see who Mr Wigan himself Shaun Wane selects for England. I can guarantee he picks Knowles over him. That should really tell you everything.
