Not saying it's true, but I've heard enough people say it now for there to be at least something in it - Hampshire I can understand as a made up rumour, lots has been made of him, and looks every bit the part from (the little) I've seen. Williams though is a much stranger made up rumour imo, hardly has the eye catching credential you'd expect if you were going to just stir.

Williams is ooc in 2015 and Hampshire in 2016 according to a link rogues posted - so, a transfer fee would be required - what would be a fair price for them in Wigan eyes? Curious as were starting to see more transfer fees come into the game.

nothing considering your are closes rivals and play in the same league, apart from Hansen i don't think a player has left for any one else other than an NRL, unless your moving? Also you wouldn't be able to compete with the salary.

Fair play, it does seem a strange one, especially after the mickey higham fiasco!

We have a lot of cap space free next year though, so salary wouldn't be a concern!

i think club trained players are going to become a hell lot more important than anytime before. You may have a lot of salary cap free next year depending on who leaves but if wigan offered williams and hampshire 250k each only a small proportion will count and saints would be spend close to a 3rd of the cap on 2 players.

I, you and everyone else hopes. Unfortunately after the golden ticket fiasco, there is still no advantage for home grown players for next year yet - ergo neither player is going to be on 250k next year.

I thought they had already ratified the changes, especially considering Lenegan will be banking on it if any of the Wigan players return as they already have a set salary. unless Wigan are seriously under the salary cap.

Nope. From what I've been told, it was supposed to be discussed and voted on at a meeting at the start of the year (along with a return of semi competitive reserves) - instead the meeting got taken up by marquee signings and golden tickets, and it's subsequently fell of the radar since (I haven't heard anything since they were attempting to set up another meeting some time in June)

Williams is an exceptional young player, strong, tough, pacey, can spot a gap, brilliant defender, decent kicker both out of hand and from the tee and has a great attitude by the looks of things. He'd be one heck of an eye catching signing if Saints or any other superleague team got him away from Wigan.

As for transfer fees for either him or Hampshire it's hard to say. They aren't established so you wouldn't be talking massive sums (ala Tomkins) but it would take a wedge way above what I can see Saints wanting (or being able to afford) to pay.

Salford are the only club I could see being able to cherry pick players like those two with big cash bids and by paying salaries above what their current worth to a first team would be.
