It as been suggested on the Daryl Goulding thread that Wigan should make an attempt to get Joe Tomkins back to bolster up the right side defence.

In last nights M.E.N it was said that Salford have been linked with any return to R/L of Joel if he ever decides to come back. He has been injured for the last 2/3 months and is out for the season, maybe the good Dr sees the signing of Joel as the longed for Marquee signing that he is so desperate for now that Benji Marshal as said that he will not be coming to S/L.
As Wigan still hold Joels S/L registration maybe another financial gain for Wigan is on the cards if the move ever comes off.

I'd hope we would sign him ourselves if that ever happened. He would only count for £100k to us as he's club trained so surely we could offer a better salary than Salford. Second Row is a position we could do with strengthening as well IMO. A back row of Tomkins, Farrell and O'Loughlin with Bateman on the bench would be quality if we play a quick game, if a little on the small side compared to other top teams, who tend to put a third prop at LF

we also have 1st refusal on joel tomkins, but can't help think these rumours are only around because he has been injured.

The emergence of Luther Burrell and the signing of Sam Burgess mean that his chances of any sort of meaningful England future are receding somewhat so I wouldn't rule out a League return for the right price..
