I have the impression that everything with the club is just too lax and the job of player is considered a 9 to 5 job where what you do after hours does not matter. Well for an athlete it does. It seems just having the odd drink isn't enough for some.

The sad thing is I am sure there are plenty of Wigan players who are not so stupid and are dedicated to their job but unfortunately this reflects on the whole club and they will be tarred with the same brush so this is why they club needs to do far more than just deal with Hock.

i think it goes wider than Wigan it reflects on RL as a whole.
we get very little coverage of late in the media unless it's negative and bringing the game into disrepute

Reardon, Pryce, Cockayne etc etc

I agree but I was responding to a post about how Wigan might react and what the consequences might be. On the wider front it isn't realistic to think only Hock is dumb enough to use recreational drugs and we already know that from previous convictions. The RFL can set the policy but its the clubs who need to implement it and they seem to eager to brush stuff under the carpet.

I am not suggesting how Wigan would react but if it were not for the automatic two-year ban for the drugs offence you have to wonder how soon a club (Wigan or a different one) would sign him up.

Those three you mention were not affected playing-wise all carried on with Reardon getting a contract as well until his injury forced him out. There was plenty of speculation on here if Feka would be sacked if convicted as well but it makes you wonder sometimes if club chairman can see the wider issues.

Extremely silly behaviour from Hock but waste of career is going OTT, thus far he's had a fabulous career and whether you agree with it or not he'll be back playing in two years. The problem of recreational drug use in rugby league is huge, the only way to stamp it out is to test each player week in week out, including the off season too.

they really need to drill into the players from the moment they enter the game the importance of clean living and conduct OFF the field and the consequences. Me personally even thought it weakens your side and i support wire am very disappointed with this because he is a good player and my personal opinion on drugs offences should be a life ban from the sport if using illegal substances.
I want to feel for the lad but there really is no excuses for his behaviour/choices. I know if i had been good enough to go pro i would have been a saint (not st helens i add) because it would have been a dream job that i wouldn't want to risk for anything.
