Also think we should pair KPP and Halsall in the centres as I hope these would be our playoff centres (assuming Halsall can kick on given a run of games).
'"
Good to see Peet gave this a go, hopefully gives them a run of games.
Nothing special tonight but job done.
Harry Smith and Morgan Smithies are having fantastic years.
Hooker may be an issue next week, Powell having a scan on his foot and this O’Neill ban.

| Mago a big plus point for me. They got good minutes in to him and he actually looked more comfortable and fitter as the spell went on I thought. He looked goosed after 5-10 minutes of his spell but got through it. Mike Cooper is going to really help us getting forward as well over this next couple of months.

| As said, a kinda no-win situation: we were expected (expecting?) to win, and we did. But yeah, Mago and Cooper went OK, Bevan is on fire, Harry is playing well, and Msrshy was back to form. I always like to watch the game back before making definitive statements (especially with my lousy eye-sight, but that's another story). but I thought although Cust looked better, he didn't really seem a dominant figure.

I wouldn't bother watching it back. I couldn't go tonight and it was a pretty terrible spectacle on TV. Not sure why Sky picked that game - pretty much every other fixture is more interesting from the neutral's perspective.
Injuries and suspensions are decimating the competition and I'm not sure what the sport can do about it. You can say go easier on the suspensions but they've been tough on that to try and reduce the number of injuries so you can't really win. I wonder what would happen if the RFL didn't impose suspensions but raised the financial penalties for poor discipline.
The upcoming loop fixtures are a problem too - more games against Toulouse and Wakefield don't appeal at all. Bet the players can't believe their luck with playing three games at Bell Vue.

| On the plus side - Marshall's first try was terrific. Great scrum play with Cust utilising the dummy runners brilliantly.

| I just watched the highlights back. We scored some nice tries, and improved our points difference. I don't see any need for long faces. I agree about the loop fixtures, though.

| It's strange how games like that are not satisfying. A good win is a good win, no matter how disrupted the opposition is by injury, but the excitement was lacking.
I don't feel down. Last week proved that we are still a long way from the finished article, so there's still lots to work on in the Wigan camp, and in that regard it's pleasing to see several training ground moves result in tries. But matches like that one, plus the one against Hull FC, just remind me how weak SL is overall.
Both FC and KR are contenders for the top 6. That's a real condemnation of the British game's standards at present.

| Yeah, it was a little underwhelming because after seeing the team sheet and then being 20 points up inside 20 minutes I was hoping/expecting a 60/70/80-0 drubbing. Fair play to Hull KR they had next to no chance before the game and that went even worse with the players they lost but they kept fighting. After seeing a number of their players go down I was just happy we came out of the game unscathed and had a fairly easy ride, far from vintage rugby by us but on to the next game which could be tricky, Warrington have a decent side on paper and if they can turn it on could be dangerous and if they can’t get up for that game then they’re in big trouble.
