Being a long time fan I used to think winning was the only thing that mattered against Wigan but even I've got to say drubbing a team that comes into a game expecting to lose loses it's fun.

Bring it on - Saints to win by 10

Just to make you feel better, i always get a bit of false optimism before we play you lot and it still hurts like hell every time you beat us.

Still i'm glad ive attended all the drubbings as the good times will now be so much better!!

Think this match could be close. It all depends on what state the Saints team are in after their third world war encounter with Leeds. Win or lose it is not the end of the world or should I say season yet. Just bragging rights.

Yup - I watched Wigan beat Saints many times and it was horrible at the time but it does allow you to appreciate the wins more.

For the other comments the point I was trying to make was although drubbing Wigan has been fun in the past it's time we got back to proper derbys where the game is close and hard fought - it got to one stage where all my Wigan supporting friends just accepted defeat before the game had started .. no fun in that :)

Yeah, sounds good!
That's how we felt for 10 years, you must feel the same for the past 4 or 5????
Maybe we should invent a way of handicapping Saints and manufacturing a way for us to compete with you by dragging down your standards to a lower level???

It's worked before, maybe we should try it again???

Saints games fill me with the same excitment as they did 15 years ago..And will in 15 years time

The last 4-5 years have been hard and i believe we play eachother to many times in a season even this season with 3 league games..but wigan v st helens is still the greatest derby in sport.

I remember an article in the Times a few years ago with the top 20 British sporting derbies. There were only two no-football games; Lancashire vs Yorkshire in the cricket and Wigan vs Saints. I'm pretty sure we came in at number three, behind the Glasgow and Merseyside derbies.

With a few more local lads on board, an emphasis on them and a real desire to halt Saints domination could make for a cracker.

I cant wait.
