aboveusonlypie... If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.
I can only assume, from all these St Helens posts, that hopes for 2014 are high around Langtree Park way. I haven't seen as much action on this board from the Saints crowd for quite a few seasons.

Not been a lot of chat and banter, maybe it's because some posters on both sides have been banned..... *Tries to look innocent*
I understand why Saints fans are a bit more optimistic for this year, it certainly won't be as bad as last year for them. They have made decent signings but there are a few question marks over them IMO. Masoe, of course will give them a few highlight reels but would you trust him in a big game in defence? If saints bring him off the bench and they have to defend a few back to back sets, that's his effectiveness gone IMO, the injury he has picked up won't help him either. Walsh, well he played really well last year in the NRL, great kicking game. However, he even admitted "the pressure was off" because he had sorted out his future and before this he was struggling. He is a target for teams to get at in defence. The only signing I am convinced will be a great success is Amor, he won't get as much plaudits as some props but he is very much underrated.
Admittedly, it is good to see our Saints fans being optimistic and having a good debate on here because the last few years the excitement of the derbies has waned a little for me, lets hope for a few crackers this year starting on Good Friday.

Illusions of grandeur it would seem. How many years now is it?
For what it's worth, I really really rate Flower. I was very impressed with him last year and he was your best prop by some distance in my opinion. He's got that bit of "nasty bugger" in him as well which is always an added bonus for a prop, and I mean that as a compliment.
I'd have him over LMS and Laffranchi at Saints without a doubt.
I've seen them bomb a quarter final, bottle a semi final, finish as league leaders, but I've still, never, seen the Wire win the league Doom and gloom, doom and gloom
