I'm sure the players will have had a team meeting and I hope the minority who may have the same urges felt embarressed, scared, frightened and paranoid about the whole situation. I also hope the academy and reserve teams have a serious dicussion and meeting in regards to the situation. Luckily, most of them will be level headed, sensible young professionals but Gareth Hock is a prime example of somebody who has come through the ranks of the club and is potentially going to ruin his life, self respect and credibility.
This could be a massive wake-up call to certain players and one huge step to improving the dramatically fading culture at Wigan Rugby League.
Well you would hope so but we will have to see how the club reacts. It will obviously only take action over Hock such as sacking him if the B test proves positive but assuming it does then just sacking Hock and that being the end of it won't be enough IMO.
I have the impression that everything with the club is just too lax and the job of player is considered a 9 to 5 job where what you do after hours does not matter. Well for an athlete it does. It seems just having the odd drink isn't enough for some.
The sad thing is I am sure there are plenty of Wigan players who are not so stupid and are dedicated to their job but unfortunately this reflects on the whole club and they will be tarred with the same brush so this is why they club needs to do far more than just deal with Hock.
