We signed Thompson weeks ago. I have been told another will follow. As well as Cust and Thornley, King will go and I have no doubt there will be others. Three marquee players will also help us regarding the salary cap.

At the moment we have four confirmed ins in Leeming,.Walters, Keighran and Chan and four confirmed outs in KPP, Cust, King and Thornley. Individual salaries won't be like for like of course but maybe the combined salary value of the ins and outs won't be far off. You'd imagine other potential outgoings could include Powell, Hampshire and Silva. Harvie Hill would probably be better served going on loan for a year to another SL club.

You can just about see it stack up from the outside looking in when you take into account the third marquee player rule but it looks tight. Fingers crossed there isn't a big sting in the tail with a surprise departure of one of our main men e.g. Smithies, French etc.

There are other ways as well:

1 - we may not have spent up to the cap in 2023
2 - Dupree could be on less than Singleton was
3 - Isa and Cooper extensions may have been on reduced salary

I reckon Mago has taken a reduction because rather than the option of the extra year being taken up, he signed a new one year, plus a one year option deal.

I'd be amazed if he hasn't taken a pay reduction. I'd imagine he was on a pretty good wedge as we were pretty desperate to get props in.

Props win you pots. I think it was a poster on here called Mugwump (wonder what happened to him) use that phrase and it is so true.

A pool of props to choose from made up of:

Thompson, Ellis, Byrne, Havard, Cooper, Mago and Dupree.

With Faz, Walters, Isa and Nsemba in the back row.

That is some pack. I can't recall the last time we've had a pack like that.

Not Wigan related but Jenna Brooks has just tweeted that she’s hearing Brodie Croft has signed for Leigh.

Considering our backs as well it's probably our strongest ever SL squad on paper. We probably just need 1 more wing/centre as backup.

From a negative POV it also means a big chunk of wages and quality sitting out of games.
