But Griffin is better than what we've got i.e O'Carroll who if we don't sign Giffin will be asked to be our 5th prop next season which won't work.

New Prop
Griffin
Feka
Fielden
Prescott

Is better than what we have this season imo and is a step forward.

Griffin's key stats for a prop show that he isn't better than what we've got. O'Carroll is also contracted until 2011 after signing a new contract last season.

We don't need a 5th prop we need a 1st one. The rest of the props apart from Coley are all contracted for next season and as I've already said if we are only changing like for like there's no point. If we can move one of the contracted props on we need to be signing someone a lot better than Griffin.

Good signing for them you don't see many six year deals, I don't think anything other than a stupid amount of money would have got Crabtree away from the Giants the guy obviously loves it there, and I admire his loyalty to stick with them.

Yes imagine us trying to sign one of the best props in the comp. Why would we want to do that?!

You get the impression sometimes that unless a player is an Australian test regular, some people will never be happy with any signing.

Crabtree is an extremely good prop who may turn into a great one. Credit to him I say for commiting to his home town club.

Leaving the prop situation a side for a minute, it looks like we may have dodged a bullet in Thorman, looks like the guy's possibly off to the Bull's thank god for that, now all we need is someone to snap up Johnson and we'll have dodged another.

I remember us being linked with Crabtree a couple of years back and some questioning his ability yet now he's kicked on and he's a class act people slate us for not going for him.

The point i'm trying to make is that sometimes the club will have to sign players on potential and not current ability. If the club want to sign a player like Griffin for example because they feel he's got improvment in him then thats good and in a couple of years time we may look back and say what a great peice of business it was.

As a club we need to improve our record of taking players on and improving them. The best teams like Saints and Leeds do it and we need to start doing the same.

Bradford really are finished if they sign Thorman!

As for Johnson if Bailey and Carmont were both to leave and we signed 2 forwards and a halfback and still had the cash to sign him i'd take the gamble.

He's still a good player when he gets himself on the pitch.

PJ can cover 2nd row and centre although has had injury problems in the past. Good cover as a squad player but not in the 1st 17.
I'd have him back on that basis.

But we have loads of cover already in those areas...
Goulding/Gleeson/Carmont/Pryce/Phelps are our centres atm
Bailey/Tomkins/Hansen/Farrell/Flanagan/Mossop/O'Loughlin in the back row.

If more than two of those leave maybe, but I dont see the point.
