It depends on what you are paying them. Wigan never saw him as first choice but given that he could play in several positions he was deemed good value. Who would you have signed? Don't forget there were very few players available at the time.

It seemed like a desperate signing at the time and as I said you don't sign injured players they hold no value at all because they can't replace anyone not rocket science just a very poor bit of business

Hampshires signing was fine and is fine. He was signed as back up and we’ve had very little use for him, as touchwood, we’ve been ok injury wise with French, Smith and Field (bar his couple of months).

I actually can’t believe I’m typing this but…….. should we activate Mago’s option?

I laughed at people suggesting this a few weeks back but he’s really shown what he’s capable of.

I think its worth the risk as he offers something no-else does.

Likes a comfort zone Mr Mago does , so I wouldn’t bother with him . As soon as he signed he’d just drop back into going through the motions

Still a no on Mago for me. It shows a really poor mentality to only turn up when your career is on the line and I’d use him as an example to the rest of the squad, that you do that at your own peril. Giving anything less than your all for a club like Wigan should not be acceptable.

He's fitter, his body shape has improved and he seems more emotionally invested - I enjoyed watching how enthused he was celebrating with Harry Smith after the Hull game last week.

Yes all the improvement could just be about staying employed next year (and why wouldn't that motivate you) but maybe it would be a shame to let him go now we're seeing the better side of him. With a one year extension he'll need to keep performing knowing he'll need another deal in 12 months.

I'm not fully convinced about it but at a stage now where I wouldn't see it as a bad decision.

Unless a veteran prop who skittles players for fun comes available I am happy to stick with Mago. I trust both Peet and Waney to hound him for the performance he’s shown tonight. Take up the option for next year. Hopefully he keeps going. I don’t think he’ll ever be a Chris Satea but if he can make meter’s like he did tonight I’ll be happy

I thought it was a done deal he was leaving? If we have an option of a year I’d take it, he’s been good for a couple of months now, at least a year would keep him on his toes and make him want to earn another contract.
