Better than Goulding, who was hugely overrated - mainly by Saints fans - but not fit to lace the boots of the others you mention.

I agree, however, that all had the cheeky halfback thing.

In Gordon Tallis autobiography he talks briefly about Briers saying the Alfie Langar didn't rate him at all. Briers was no doubt a different player during the Tony Smith era.

We played at the Zoo when Langer was in the side with Briers.
A lot of tries scored that day.
Briers used something like 8 different types of kick off. He won the ball back from the kick off for Wire any number of times.
Briers is one of the best stand offs I've seen in the last 10 years in this country.

Hansen's joint testimonial with Paul Prescott is about to be announced so I doubt it. Also would he rather play in a WCC in Sydney and challenge for honours or play for Salford in front of two men and a dog alongside the leagues full compliment of problem children? (Gleeson, Hock, Chase, Smith etc).

He may go in 12 months but plenty can change. I can't see the good Doctor sticking round for more then a couple of years tbh (hope I'm wrong).

great he will be your first real quality signing. And if he stays at Wigan for another year fantastic but if we see fit to let him leave early there will be plenty of others to step up.
