I'd say the squad is pretty sorted when it comes to young props, or even general players with potential. We're desperate for some here and now type players imo.

If you look back at the start of Saints run, they had plenty of lads with potential but needed some ready made guys to complement them. Coote, Naiqama, Zeb Taia all played big parts in helping turn that potential into real talent.

Walters might turn out to be a good signing. He's not however going to bridge the gap needed for at least 18 months min. When that happens, we'll then be looking at replacing Faz etc. Get someone in for next season that will hit the ground running and improve what we've got.

I’d like to see an experienced prop and an experienced second rower come in on top of Walters. We can switch Walters between positions if needed and hopefully keep plenty of opportunities open for Harvie Hill and Nsemba. I’m really liking the looks of Hill at the minute.

If the club could bring in two experienced recruits, the whole outlook of the squad would change imo.

Sadly & going off our recent recruitment history, I'm not confident in our ability to bring in the type of forwards we need.

If indeed you do sign Thompson, I get that it would be a statement of intent and you'd have one over Saints but this is not sour grapes- I really am not bothered if you do sign him

Reading the tweet from NRL physio and the injury he has had plus the complications afterwards means that he's not worth the risk (and money) that it would take to get him.

From a Saints point of view I think we got rid of him at the right time bearing in mind what he's done in the NRL.

Of course he could come back here, never get injured and rediscover his best form

During the World Cup it was pretty obvious he was Wane's 4th prop and probably wouldn't have got a game if Walmsley had been available, massive massive risk, it's got George Burgess written all over it

I really hope we don’t. There’s just so much risk involved-

-Injured
-Concussion issues
-May see it as a step down from the NRL
-Motivation to play for Wigan as a Saints man through and through since being a kid
-big salary

A lot os us dont want him so I doubt we be lauding it over any Saints fans
