Would he be an option as our 9 if Field is going to play in the halves?
If we have the room on the quota, he’s ideal as cover for 6 and 9 but Hampshire covers 6, O’Neill is coming on great at 9 and Forber looks a prospect as well (and there’s Astley as well). It’ll all play out in the next few months but it feels to me that it may end up being 2 spots available between him, Miski and Isa and we need second rowers and we need a starting winger.

Astley is now being used as a fullback in the reserves, Wigan see Jack Farrington as the next half back to make the grade and they are fast tracking him.

I think that Miski would be a good second rower he has the build and speed to boot.

Noticed he played fullback yesterday and at Oldham on dual reg. I’ve only seen bits of Farrimond. He looks a talent but it’s very early days.
Cust hasn’t pulled up trees since mid way through last season. That’s not to say his performances have been, in the main, woeful or bad but I think the reality of having two good halves who are the same style of play hinders us. And that’s a huge shame IMO because Cust isn’t a bad player, he’d compliment most teams IMO but it boils down to a Smith or Cust decision and I’d be amazed if any Wigan fan chose the latter over the former.
I’m not at all familiar with the reserves but from reading other users posts there’s more than a few players starting to push up through the first team doors (or likely to imminently).
Mago has to leave us at seasons end, he just isn’t good enough despite his early promise. I’m open to change my mind on this but I’d also include Cust on that list too for reasons above.
Cust definitely went downhill after the injury but also after Smith broke into the first team and took all kicking responsibilities. Made it more difficult for him to stand out.

He signed for 2 years but has an option for next year, I assume the option is in Wigans favour.
Here’s our OOC list
