Lets face it Sam has been head and shoulders above ANY player in SL over the past 3 seasons. As you mention he's played a vital part in our resurgence and he's a once in a generation player (arguably the most talented player that we've ever produced through our system).

After one MOS, 2 challenge cups, hopefully two SL titles and a bucket load of special moments and plays he deserves a massive send off.

Sadly i know how fickle and inwards looking some of our fans can be.

He's been an absolute pleasure to watch and to be honest I'm absolutely gutted he's leaving. In my thirty one years watching this great club he's definitely up in my top two of most talented players to wear the shirt...the other being the great Ellery Hanley. Such as shame we won't see him in his mid/late twenties plying his trade in the famous cherry and white, home-grown players of his talent don't come round very often and we may never see his like for a very long time!

I was there for his first team debut, his superleague debut at London and all being well I'll be there for his last game and pretty much every minute watching him has been a pleasure. Take his skills away, his pace, footwork or anything physical you want and you'd still be left with one heck of a player because he's got heart, passion, desire and a competative streak like nobody I've seen before. After a period of time pre Tomkins watching a Wigan side who was chocked full of average joes here for the cash and nothing much else that desire above anything has given me the most satisfaction.

I hope he goes and smashes it in the NRL. I'd love to see him back here one day but I'm not really expecting to see him in a Wigan shirt again. He must be given the send off he deserves.

4 tries in a 100 point rout?

Or was that after.

Not trying to be pedantic, but if it was London, that means i was not at his debut as first thought.

Depends if he broke the agreement of not speaking to other clubs after signing a deal forbidding it. If he did I don't think fans objecting to that is fickle or inward looking. I suspect he didn't and if so the ire should be directed elsewhere.

However his transfer came about given the nature of the deal he did sign and how the club announced it why anyone would think it wrong not to be hugely annoyed it wasn't worth the paper it was written on is a mystery to me. I doubt we will see any "can't speak to other clubs" contracts again after this farce.

Yes it was Whitehaven but he didn't actually say London was his debut game if you look again. He said he witnessed his first team debut ( Challenge cup Vs Whitehaven ) and also witnessed his Super League debut which was Vs London. Sam's First team debut and his Super League debut where different games.

I mentioned London as his superleague debut mate and your correct Whitehaven was his debut.

Didn't he score 5 that day though? I think we knew that day we had something special on our hands. I'd watched him in the u21's beforehand and it was freakish watching him toy with opposition teams but you never know how they'll transfer that ability.

It would make no sense for anyone - the club or the fans - to badmouth Sam once he's gone. On the off-chance he doesn't take to life in the NRL and decides to come home, it would be a crying shame if Wigan weren't even in the running because people here had cheesed him off.

For the same reason, I doubt we'll ever know the full extend of the player's own culpability in this matter.

Do you ever stop? Regardless of how his move has come about, he deserves a massive send off for all he has done on the pitch, every single time he pulls on the shirt he gives his all and has given us all some unbelievable moments of genius. I will be there and I hope we get a massive crowd and he fires us to Old Trafford.

I have absolutely no problem with him going to the NRL to better himself both Professionally and financially and wish him the very best of luck. I expect him to do 2 years there then head for Rugby Union.

An unbelievable special talent we have been very lucky to call our own for these past few years.
