Why do we?

It always seems to be next year at the min i.e these young lads will be good next year, we need to wait until deal run before we can replace dross etc.

If we lose Zak and French, then the blame lies at the feet of IL and instead of "wait until next year", he needs to sort it out for this year.

I'd like it if we could just get some stability from our next signings.

Our last few impressive captures have all turned out to be pains in the neck.

Edwards as coach - the less said the better (and a contributory cause to many of our current problems)
Burgess - the mysterious never-healing injury
Hastings - constantly surrounded by gossip and rumour
Hardaker - ditto
French - not entirely his fault, but no one ever seems to know when or if he'll be fit/seeing out his contract/returning from Aus etc
Field - so comprehensively injured on first touch of the ball that, half a year on, we still don't know what he can do
Bateman - another mystery (what happened to the old one?)

Gone are the days, it seems, when overseas players like Pat Richards and George Carmont came to Wigan because they actually wanted to be here, settled down and gave us excellent, non-controversial service for the durations of their contracts.

I'd just like to see something like that again.

If Hardaker wants to go then the club he is going to has a choice, either pay a transfer fee or player exchange. Otherwise he stays for this coming season.

One thing the club can't do is sign mediocre players purely to fill gaps for 2022. If the right players aren't available we'll have to wait, otherwise we just prolong the problem for longer.

That will, potentially, be 5 years without a trophy.

If French & Zak leave then IL needs to open the cheque book. Go for a Wardle, or a Trueman. IF we're talking to French and IF he isn't 50/50 then get shut and go hard for Pearce - that's something for right now, next season etc.

It's 150 years next season and we could be going in with a pi$$ poor squad, all because the recruitment seems to be done via the seat of the pants type stuff.

If Zac does leave prior to next season then that will leave his salary available for a replacement.

Where the club look for a replacement is debateable, it is a long time before the NRL season starts and there always seems to be fall outs between players and their clubs suddenly making people available. They could have someone in mind and Zac's salary could persuade an individual to sign.

The whole structure of the backs seems undecided with Zac's situation unclear, as is French's plus no one seems to know about Field. On the face of it we need a quality half, centre and goalkicker.

Interesting to see how this pans out with the club.

The issue I have with Field is this,no one knows if he’s any good or not he looked like a boy against men last season in those rare times he was fit to me he was a lad perhaps you take a gamble of a year contract and if it didn’t work out no problem

Replacing Hardaker and/or French?

It just seems we’re stumbling sleeping into shambles after shambles which should have well been avoided, even just by reading on here! Both, if true they are both leaving, need adequately replacing with quality. We can’t just make do with mediocre stop gap players. I just wonder what the hell is going on at the club at the minute, for a so called ‘top club’ we’re looking like a pub side the way we’re being run.

Any body seen meat the team on the Wigan site shows squad numbers nobody for Numbers 2 / 4 / 10.
