Not sure how things would work with his ban? If the finance is there to try and get a guy like Vaughan we’d be silly not to try. It sounds like he’s a bit of a tool but beggars can’t be chooses and we’re as poor as they come at prop.

Signing a player like Vaughan would be absolutely huge for us. We’ve proven with the Hardaker signing that we have no issue with signing people who’ve got a bit of a bad reputation so I don’t think that would ever come into it…it just comes down to if we would ever make a move or if he would want to come over to super league.
If he did come over here, it would be a very good signing for whoever pick him up.

Atoni would be a step in the right direction but probably still leaves us needing 2 more props if we sign him if we are to have a balanced prop rotation.
I still think we would require 2 x senior props plus Atoni and Havard to give us a good main rotation of 4 in the starting 17.
I can’t see us signing 3 props with Singleton still around.

Here's the thing - Vaughan, plus a new coach to see the season out and the whole mood around the place instantly switches. You then factor in Zak coming back & looking longer term to Field and it's more positive than ever.
Don't want to go OTT, but it seems like one of those fork in the road moments. Shake things up and watch us go, or watch the season peter out.

No and I don’t think we’d need to. There’s no two ways about it, this pack needs the sort of overhaul signing Vaughan and Atoni would bring but I don’t think we’d need much more. A 4 or 5 prop rotation of Vaughan, Singleton, Atoni, Havard and Partington is ideal IMO, with back up then from guys like Byrne and Nathan Mason. I’d love it to happen but I just can’t see it unfortunately.

I completely agree that bringing in someone like Vaughan would change the whole mood for the better! Especially with players coming back from injury like you say! I can’t see Lam going before the end of the season but regardless of the coaching situation for now, the lift it would give the fans, club and hopefully players to get him in could really make our season and enable us to work into the play offs on a really positive note! (I understand I sound overly optimistic on this one but it’s nice to dream at the moment) haha!

I share your optimism tbh. I've said before that I'm not writing this side off. With Hastings, Gildart and Zak in the backs there's plenty of creativity. With Vaughan, Faz and Bateman there's talent in the pack too.
Vaughan isn't Fielden, but you look at the lift he gave in 06 and you'd hope for something similar. You can then liken Dobson to Field i.e both rookies with a point to prove.
Probably won't happen tho. We'll just continue to slip away.
