It’s his defence that the big issue, until he sorts that out (which looks unlikely) he won’t make it at a top club. If he somehow can I don’t see why he can’t match someone like Sneyd and he would probably compliment Smith quite well.
Another big problem is that I’d guess he’s on a decent wage at Cas and not out of contract so you’re not going to get him on a wage which matches the risk.

Reading an interesting article on social media regarding the movements of halves in the NRL, and it doesn’t make good reading for SL clubs looking to recruit from that pool of players.

Most/all the quality has been strongly linked with other clubs and it looks very slim pickings between the rest.

I’m guessing assuming Williams to Wire is don’t we will be recruiting from within SL and also potentially hoping Tommy can do yet another year or starting with Field at 6.

Concerning times when looking for the Hastings replacement.

If we miss out on Williams I can't see us recruiting a half, unless Sezer wants to leave Huddersfield, but I think even he has offers from NRL clubs.

Sadly a large vacuum of quality halves available in SL, evidenced by Jordan Abdull being currently one of the best in the league.

Slim pickings indeed if we start to look at the NRL.

Other than Field/French, who else within the club could play half back to any sort of standard?

Sezer must be leaving Huddersfield given their recruitment in that position and him being out of contract but you’d guess it’ll be back to the NRL. Wigan should certainly look to make him an offer if we can afford it and see if we can tempt him. He looks about the most rounded half in superleague to me and I don’t think Williams was an upgrade for Canberra, so I don’t think he’d be a backwards step on that score.

How do you know people haven’t seen him play?

You do realise his debut game for Wigan wasn’t the first game of his career don’t you?

I wasn't saying that Field would be the ideal half back, but he has played there in the NRL

If we do go to the NRL, there's some very uninspiring names coming up as looking for contracts eg Ash Taylor, Corey Norman, Anthony Milford, Matt Moylan, Kyle Flanagan. Unfortunately, these are more realistic than Shaun Johnson etc

All currently in talks with NRL clubs also by all accounts. Very slim pickings.

Despite what Nathan says Field is a fullback/half he’s played plenty of games in the NSW Cup and a handful in the NRL as a half.

I personally prefer him as a 1 but given what is out there I wouldn’t be surprised to see him start in the halves next year and whilst maybe not a superstar he would still probably be one of the better halves assuming the recovery goes well.
