Gleeson and Joel are long gone and been replaced by Goulding.
Carmont is now out for a month to be replaced by, who knows?
Anyone think Keith Senior could do a job for us at centre on a temp contract?
I just don't know who will play at 4, Hughes, Gelling, maybe HH?
We have Leeds then Bradford, followed by Cas away with Catalans visiting us on
4th March. The two home games worry me more than the away fixtures.

I really do think we should throw a pay as you play contract to Keith Senior, what harm could it do?

All depends if senior has kept himself fit or not.

We are running out of options fast and its a little ridiculous that we are in this situation.

It's almost 12 months since Gleeson left and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to expect Carmont would get injured either.

Why haven't we used Joels salary or transfer fee to bring someone in?

But who though? Who could we bring in at Joel's salary? The exchange rate's against us so that rules out most notable Aussies or Kiwis, in the UK? Tricky, not that much available here, I'd have made a cheeky bid for Kris Welham, even then i'm not convinced we'd have the cap space.

We lost Hoffman, Joel, Gleeson, Coley and Deacon plus gained extra cap space for Sam. We should have room to spare.

I'd look at players like Bridge, Wheeler, Briscoe, Yeman, Whelham etc. We've got the funds to pick our target really as Saracens showed us 250k can get you a player one year into a five year deal.

Being realistic are any of those players going to leave their current clubs? Wigan cannot pay over the odds like Sarries did for Joel - our cap space is less than Union and even with the players leaving Wigan do not have cap space to make ridiculous bids for other players - which is what it would take to tempt them.

Bridge and Wheeler are at clubs with every bit as good (or maybe more) a chance of winning silverware so why would they leave, the others - are on long term contracts.

I believe there are many players out there who are realistic targets who would improve our team.

I'd like to bring back Dobson
Also I think Matty Smith from Salford would make an excellent 7 at Wigan.
Patrick from Huddes as also impressed.

Coley and Deacon are still on the pay list (although not now on the cap). Hock would have taken a lot of Gleesons money, (rumours abide that Gleeson still had to be paid off). We also signed almost all of the U16 side, and no doubt some other contracts were upgraded. Then there were the signings of Dudson, Flower, Lauaki and Gelling.

As I've said on the "a view from the stands" thread there is also the investments in South Wales and Central Park which hopefully will pay dividends for years to come.

Exactly. If Sam really is on a salary of £300,000 a year as is rumoured that is the equivalent 3 fairly top players. There are only a small percentage of players on £100,000 never mind a figures as high as what Sam is on. Joel himself was only on about 75k and I would doubt Deacon or Coley was on this much even. When you factor in Hock coming back and his wage and the signings we have made then it is quite conceivable that all the money is gone.
