There was obviously the situation where he got caught in the Leigh game, but at the same time he showed some great pace to track back Salford's 1st breakaway try. He might not be an out and out flyer, but you when you factor in his size - he's a very good player.

In fairness he’s never been an out and out flyer has he,more the Ryan hall type of winger,even with the injuries it’s be a mistake letting him go

So you’re happy with a player that plays 1/4 or 1/3 of games due to injury to be retained? In a salary cap sport that is too risky for me. Hopefully he does a Lomax and can stay fit after years of bad injuries but I imagine the odds are slim and if I’m honest he doesn’t seem good enough to take that risk on post his most recent injury. If it was the Manfredi from 3/4 years ago I would have said maybe it’s a gamble worth risking.

These are my thoughts. If he was a bit younger, or absolutely smashing it when fit, then fair enough. As it is he's not worth the risk IMO. What will be interesting is whether Bibby is used as a centre or a winger next season. There will be starting spots available in either position. Even though he considers himself a centre, I think his best games for us have been on the wing. He was a real threat there early in the season even if he isn't a conventional speedster.

In an ideal world for me when everyone is fit Bibby wouldn’t be in our side, he’s a solid player but nothing spectacular (although improving). I see him as someone who fills in for injuries and I think he’s better on the wing although his lack of pace isn’t ideal for a winger.

He's underrated on the wing IMO. If you look at the needs of the team - most would agree we struggle for hard yards, and general attacking prowess. A guy who gets you a try and over 100m a game isn't to be sniffed at, however unfashionably he might go about it. My assumption would be that he's probably on a cap-friendly deal as well, leaving space for stars elsewhere.

Completely agree.

It’s all well and good someone like Bibby shouldn’t be in the team, but I do wonder what people want.

Big go forward near the top of the try scoring chart played in 2 Grand Finals with different teams not worthy of a starting shirt day.

Gone are the days where we have Offiah and Robinson on the wings.

Bibby could easily be part of a 13 that becomes champions. Plenty worse wingers have SL winners rings, add to this he’s still a young player which is often forgotten and doesn’t miss many, i’d be comfortable with him on the wing for Wigan for a good few years.

Bibby certainly played well when he was on the right wing for us so if the idea in not offering Manfredi a new contract is that Bibby will be our next right winger then I don't think there are many reasons to object. He's probably on a smaller contract, can cover in the centres and I don't think the difference between what we get from Bibby and Manfredi is particularly vast. Bibby has probably been the better of the two but we also performed better overall in the games Bibby played there.

As long as the club are looking to strengthen the centres and use Bibby on the right wing then I'd be okay with this, although it would be a shame to see Manfredi leave.
