Good win that after a disappointing performance against cats

We looked significantly better with Field at 6, French at 1 and Cust at 9.

Better from KPP.

We were horrible in all honesty.

Moving French to fullback and Cust to hooker helped us a bit - we need to commit to that going forward.

We’ll seriously have to buck our ideas up for Salford

Games are never too pretty at this time of the season.

It was a tough watch. Maybe our discipline is just dreadful but it felt like we got battered again. The ref gave a tip tackle against us that looked dubious and then didn’t give one against them with 30 second left, that was clearly worse. We grafted hard and finally seemed to up our intensity in the last 20 mins, so hopefully that’s something to build on.

As for Huddersfield, you’d struggle to part with your money to watch that every week. Watson got so much praise for Salfords entertaining brand of rugby under him but that clearly wasn’t down to him. He must be the most risk averse coach in Rugby League. They took a hit up with 5 seconds on the click to seal the game for Wigan, which summed it up.

Gleeson played a huge role in the good rugby Salford played that year. Whilst I understand there's baggage there with Wigan, I'm very disappointed we didn't bring him in when he left England RU.

Watched the podcast with Flanagan/Wilkin earlier and Flanagan seemed to basically say their success with down to Gleeson, certainly in terms of attack.

I think the baggage would stop that tbh. It sounds like he’s extremely well thought of around both codes.

What to do with Paddy Mago...so frustrating after a positive performance last week.

Frustrating is the right word. His teammates patting him on the back after his last daft error was more generous than I could be. He needs a rocket up his backside for me. He wastes any good work he does with the most basic, lazy errors you could see. I’d be amazed if he’s here in 2024.

And if so another black mark in the recruitment book for Kris Radlinski unfortunately. Its tough to think of the opportunities we've had to address our front row weaknesses over the last five years - few would say any of Bullock, Burgess, Clark, Mago, Ellis, Singleton etc have been definitive success stories (understatement with a few of them).
