I said this back in Oct when I spoke to him and was shot down. He is barely acknowledging being a Wigan player and I personally believe he doesn't want to play for our club or actually live in England anymore.
If we are left without a half back come the new year I’d take a punt on Smith as who else is there?
As long as that’s Harry and not Matty Smith?
I’d have had Aidan Sezer in a heartbeat but he’s gone to Huddersfield.
All in all, there may be a bit of truth in the rumour and if it is and there are NRL clubs after him then as long as they provide us with a replacement half then I’d be happy. Mitchell Pearce would be nice, or Chad Townsend, Adam Reynolds or Michael Morgan.
I can’t see any of them moving now TBH. Personally I’d be inclined to say go with what we’ve got rather than panic sign or we’ll end up with another sub standard player like Sammutt.
There is no smoke without fire and what did i say a couple of months back?
I said that Lenegan should contact him and just tear his contract up if he doesnt want to come (or something along those lines).
It was met with howls and scathing attacks against me. But the fact is, Hastings has not once shown a scintilla of enthusiasm for joining the club, in fact, he has always come across as having a dislike of Wigan.
We do not need players that dont really want to come and are only coming because the money was too good to refuse. I know the money is always a big part of a player going to a club but at least they usually show some enthusiasm. The way Hastings has acted has me wondering if he would even try his best whilst here?
If there's any legs in this then it seems as a club we seem to maybe be getting the dirty end of both sticks at the same time.
On one hand we have a player, contracted for another twelve months. Doesn't seem to have any interest in making his way into the team and happy to see his contract ride out until the bitter end. Contribution to the team = 0.
On the other we "may" have a new signing who potentially has zero interest in playing for us. Now assuming we have actually agreed a contract (and not just another embarrassing handshake) then we need to stick to our guns and make him play the twelve months or put a ridiculouy high transfer fee on him.
If all is true It's time for our club to stop pandering to players whims. It literally doesn't seem to affect any other club in SL.

I said something similar a few days before your original post on the matter and was met with the same attitude, Shame there's too many tinted spectacle wearers on here

If he (Hastings) isn’t coming we should not stand in his way or try and force him to come. It does neither party any good and for us would detract from an otherwise promising season.
It’s pretty simple for me; Jackson, are you coming yes or no? If yes, we crack on and kill these rumours. If no we negotiate a release with him/his new club and immediately target a new HB or go with what we’ve got. Someone mentioned George Ford before, that would be one hell of a move and I for one would back that 100%.
We can’t let this saga embarrass us as a club like the Shaun Edwards saga. We waited too long to act on that despite rumours swilling around for weeks beforehand, we need to get out in front of this one and be utterly brutal in it as well. We need to come out looking better than Jackson, even if that means some uncomfortable truths for him.

They need to resolve this quickly as season tickets have been bought on the back of this signing.
