Don’t know how anyway can be critical of Gildart, been superb for us since debuting as an 18 year old. Played well in many big games for us 2016 GF, 2017 WCC etc.

His try at Saints away 2018 is one of my all time favourites.

He’s achieved a lot in his 6 years in the first team and I’m sure he’ll go well when he’s fit this year.

Made it clear his NRL ambitions, never shyed away from it. He’s waited for his contract to finish and hasn’t left us in the lurch. Hope he tears it up for a couple of years then returns.

I guess it’s his current injury added to the one last season that may be frustrating a couple of people but these things happen. His shoulder injury was a bad one and then this groin issue has been frustrating and dragged longer than we were being told. I think he’s been a superb player for Wigan and he seems a good character. No grudges at all with how he’s conducted himself and I think he’ll give it his all to end his time here in the right way.

Gildart is really good player, but think will be good business for you to strengthen in other areas. I was really concerned fir Gildart when heard his shoulder still isn't right either. His get a proper working out in NRL as the backs are monsters out there.......

George Burgess has commented on Instagram that his hip operation has gone much better than he’d hoped and he’s looking forward to getting back playing. It’s posted alongside a picture of him playing for Wigan saying ‘watch this space’. If it’s at Wigan or elsewhere, I really hope it works out for the lad and he can get back playing at a level that does his immense talent justice. We’d have all loved to see a 100% fit George Burgess and it would’ve been carnage but even him fit enough to just be 50% of the Burgess we know would be great now.

I said a while back I have a funny feeling he’ll be a Wigan player in 2022. Not based on anything factual though.

Once bitten...

I really hope the lad manages to come back next year but we would be crazy to risk it IMO, unless he is on a massively reduced contract, i.e. taking only Clubb's salary.

Can see him ending up at a mid-table team like Leeds or Huddersfield though. Possibly Catalans.

It would have to be on a vastly reduced deal but I can’t help but watch our current forward pack and think a lad who is built like a brick toilet would be worth the risk, even with a metal hip. Things have hit those depths in the front row.

We’ll see how it plays out.

I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

Obviously our inept CEO will rush out to sign him.
