It didn’t. It only got 90 carry over points in their system over there, which meant he was free to pick up a suspension the following week instead.

Jackson has been pretty open in saying he wants to go back to the NRL sooner rather than later so these rumours will always surface. He seems to sign one year deals to keep his options open.

Personally I don’t have a problem with this, I’d rather he do it this way than sign a 4/5 year deal only to try and get out of it at the first opportunity. I’m comfortable in that I don’t think he will leave mid season so let ‘em talk.

It’s for next season apparently, so no dramas and no surprise. The guy is a dream on the field and I look forward to watching him for the rest of the season and hopefully his time here ends with some silverware. I’ll actually be pretty relieved that it’s sorted so soon and the club has plenty of time to weigh its options up.

It’s for next year, he’s off contract and we didn’t expect him here this year.

Get it announced and let him concentrate on playing and enjoying his last year in England.

Also we can start working on convincing George Williams he’s fed up of Australia

I’m happy with that, just hope his form doesn’t drop this year now he has a contract sorted which seems to happen often with overseas players.

Still a chance he could go this season which would explain the announcement of Smiths new deal on a Sunday

He plays with commitment, that can never be questioned and he's always been open about his desire in going back to the NRL.

I'm sure he will put all the effort in this year, and leave at the end of his contract.

My only frustration is that if we can't get a another year or two out of him, because he is such a quality player.
