I am hoping that any combination in the centres allows Carmont to revover from the leg problems that continually flare up. Carmont could have been rested more last season. I know that there were complaints about the players not being rested after the CC run, Carmont is probably the prime example.

Not heard anything but TBH I hope its not true. Its time for Joe Mellor to make that step up this season, signing Hornby just wouldnt allow it unless we were plagued with injuries.

No idea, Whats the quota this year? Theres so many stupid loopholes anyway im sure there would be some way round it.

If I'm not mistaken Carmont, Richards, Lima, Lauaki, Gelling are classed as 'Non federation trained'.

Finch and Roberts are quota players (and thus also non federation trained)

Leuluai is classed as federation trained having played in England for a certain amount of years before the age of 21.

Richards has an Irish passport (non-quota), and has an exemption so he's classed as Fed Trained.

I'm sure Carmont is something similar, so that would leave Lima, Lauaki, Gelling, Roberts + Finch as non-fed trained. Although I am probably wrong.

I'd be very disappointed if we found a loophole for another overseas player this year.
I want to see the current overseas number reduce (by a few too), over the next couple of seasons as we strengthen with UK youth.

Ben Hornby is a class act but there's nothing more satisfying than seeing lad's from our youth system step up and become quality players in their own right. I'd be surprised if Hornby does sign at such a point in both UK and Aussie pre seasons.

We have to give youth it's chance this year and we have to hope at least 1 or 2 step up to the mark because next year were losing 2 of our best players in Tommy and Carmont and to replace them with equal quality for similar money will be pretty much impossible.

Add in the possible departures of guys like Finch and Fielden and we really to need to box clever when it comes to player promotion and player recruitment. I have to problem with the club biding it's time on signing players when ones of the correct ability isn't available but we must strike if an opportunity arrises to sign a player of top quality in the right position.

We have months worth of time now to plan, have a look at the youngsters and asses any signings options.
