I say no smoke without fire, we got linked to Luke Thompson quite heavily and although that got poo pooed we have since got rid of our top earning prop and rumours are more dead wood at the position are going. If the cap is live as they say it is we surely have the cap space to take Thompson on? (Dependant on the GB pay off). For me if we can’t get someone of that ilk I’d leave the money for a possible signing mid season.

we will have all GB wages to play with, however it is still money that has to be paid by the club so we might not get anyone

I thought there was talk of us coming to an agreement? Any sort of pay off would count towards the cap.

And I’m speaking purely from a cap point of view, the club might not want to spend up-to that with everything that’s currently going on but I think the off season signings so far have shown the club is still ambitious and I think will spend the money if available and the right player is available and for me I hope it’s Thompson or Watts.

Apart from what the club will have paid out on his contract for the time spent at the club, there will also be a large bill for the medical treatment he will have received at a private hospital like Euxton Hall in Chorley or the Beaumont in Bolton etc.

There will not be the same amount of money left from the Burgess deal as some seemed to think, especially with the present Covid-19 situation affecting the income of all the clubs.

not if hes not played a game as he can be deregistered and nothing counts towards the cap until he plays a game
