I thought both props would be the missing piece but sadly they just caused more issues.

I expected Clarke to be a junior prop in our team coming into his own in 2021 once he got acclimatised to the club.

I remember watching him as a youngster for Bradford in the lower leagues and he looked like he was going to go on to be a great forward. Big, raw and robust. Got his opportunities at SL but just not kicked on.

I have no knowledge of his discipline away from the field but if I were a betting man I’d say that would be an aspect of his game that maybe had let him down.

He said we have agreed a deal with a prop but it cannot be completed until other players are moved on. If we signed him today we would be over the cap.

The worry is that to make room we may have to move on a high earner or two otherwise the 26 and 27th earners would become new 24 and 25 on the cap and would save a proportion of those players incomes. I imagine Clarke is in the firing line but I am not sure who else we still have would fit the criteria. By criteria I mean being far enough above the 26th earner for their salary to make a difference.

Around the time we first started getting linked with him I started to watch Clark closely for Cas and was massively underwhelmed, I posted on here a few times how in all honesty I thought he was crap. If I’m honest he actually did a little better than I expected which wasn’t hard. If we’ve got rid and got him off the cap mid contract we have done well, we could do with Clubb and Burgess following suit if possible.
The person on the other site saying we’ve signed a prop is also the same person who said we had signed another prop earlier this off season so I would take it with a pinch of salt really, and he also gives no name and saves himself from being called a liar by saying the signing is dependant on other things happening. I for one would think that agreeing a deal with someone on the premise you get rid of some players is unprofessional and can you not get rid of said players leaves the player in a massive limbo if he has to stay at his current club.
That said I would love another prop to join the ranks but I think we need someone who is going to be in our starting 17, we have got enough young lads coming through to fill the injury gaps. I’d rather we keep the cap space open for later in the season for the right player.

You're right CC. If we are making a signing then it needs to be a first teamer ala the Singleton signing. We can't afford another squad player/project signing IMO.
