Isa just isnt big enough for prop. You need size in the middle of the park with at least 2 players being big and agressive with good go forward. That will allow for an average size 13 to play middle.

As for smithies, that lad provides 45-50 tackles a game off the bench only playing 50-60 mins. That amount of defence is invaluable and the amount of work he does is of huge benefit to the team. It is the kind of work players appreciate but not all fans recognise.

When he played from the start he made 68 tackles in 1 game, a sl record.

I’d have fully agreed with you prior to the new rules but things do change and if a guy can make ground and can stop his opposite numbers taking ground out of us, does it really matter if he’s a giant or not? I wouldn’t want two lads the size of Isa starting at prop and Partington at loose forward but if you ran with Singleton and Bullock from the start and used Isa and Havard in the middle from the bench, I wouldn’t have a problem with it under these current rules (if they’re still being used). I think we saw at the end of the season just how fit our lads are and the intensity they can throw in to games will give us a sniff against anyone. We’re going to make masses of ground through the second row channels with Bateman and Farrell, so I’m not sure we need four big lumps in the prop spots. I’d love to sign one more but I’d rather go with Isa as a 4th prop than Clubb, Clark or Burgess.

What those stats don't show is how much effort is required to tackle him, whether he is finding his front when driving it in and putting defenders on their back when he tackles. To my eyes he is very good defensively, better than the stats suggest because he seems to lead the defensive line and even when he misses tackles he hits them that hard they lose all momentum. I also think someone flying in like he does will impact the opposition mentally as they will feel rushed with the ball. However, IMO he looks easily dealt with when he has the ball. In the Grand Final in particular he seemed to die on the spot with it every time.

That's why i am asking. There is nothing on their board and it's not from a usual source but they do have form with these crazy signings.

Well stranger things have happened and wire do have recent form with RU players. Cipriani is a bit more high profile than Burrell tho

His comments that he was looking forward to his new challenge when he left his Union club made me wonder if he’s league bound. I know he’s a big league fan and has admitted to wanting a crack at it I thought it would be with a lesser club than Wire though given his age now.

"lesser club" doesn't leave him many options then :CURTAIN:
