i'll ask him as he trains in the gym i go to. usually at a different time to me but i get proper cheesed off when he puts the Wattbike on some ridiculous height and it takes me 5 minutes to lower it down to use it
I'm not saying this is an ideal scenario to sign a player, but more of an interesting discussion...
A South African winger, Aphiwe Dyantyi, has been banned for 4 years for a doping offence. He's a pretty good talent to be honest - 13 caps for the Spring Boks, World Rugby Breakthrough Player in 2018. But at 25 and with a 4 year ban, his career is over.
Would anyone take a punt on him? He's not got much bargaining power as he can't play RU and that will drive his salary right down. He'd also be exempt from the cap in year one and then only 50% of his wages in year 2 would count.
Ideal situation - probably not, but you can't argue there's not a potential upside too.

Surely you can’t be banned from one sport for drugs offences and play another? Doesn’t seem right and if it’s allowed we shouldn’t be making use of the loophole imo.

I don’t know the full facts of the case however I am assuming the ban would have been supported and sanctioned by the World Anti Doping Agency whose protocols rugby league follows so that would mean he is banned from participation in SL.
I’m not sure the NRL is aligned with WADA which is why some of their bans seem so much more lenient so maybe potential for him to join a team there but I’d think it is highly unlikely.
