I'd say Marshall is a pretty special player and one I'd be very excited to see play in SL.
As far as I'm aware SL isn't losing anyone to the NRL this year and on top of that Hull aren't losing anyone else they'd like to keep i.e to another club either.
If they've got a marquee slot open and no other targets, then why not? It doesn't seem to be at the cost of anyone else.
Was a very special player. He isn’t anymore. He did well this season granted but let’s be brutally honest here, it wasn’t any better than any other half in the NRL
Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

Maybe he will still be good and avoid injury at 36 in a new league, maybe not. Even if he is, they're back to square 1 next year having spent a lot of money on him. I bet for a lot less money they could have prised Smith off our hands and built a team around him for years.

Come on mate, you normally provide a balanced argument on stuff like this.
No one really knows who any club have gone in for. For all we know they might be offering him a one year deal, with the intention of going big for Hastings in 2022. There were rumours of interest in him a few weeks back. Who's to say they didn't fail and Marshall is plan B, or even C?
Was Smith off contract this year? If he wasn't, then how could they have done that? I doubt we'd be tempted by any offer. As you've pointed out many a times, there's more to it than just being cashed up.
Also are they not already at square one anyway with the loss of Kelly? They need a HB and Marshall is just as good, if not better than any others available + he'll put some bums on seats too.
If it's a one year deal, then I don't think it's as bad as people are making out. Is it a long term fix - no it isn't, but it buys them a year to find someone.

Yeah maybe I am overreacting. Just seems indicative of how clubs seem to think that when a halfback spot comes up they throw a load of money at a past his best antipodean. I'm not just blaming Hull for that. We've got Connor, Myler and Ratchford playing full back, Smith and McLelland in the stands. Benji gets one last payday.
Without knowing the ins / outs of what is going on at Hull we dont really know yet if it is good or bad business.
Yes he is 36, but he is also one hell of a player and probably more importantly isnt going to be getting battered like a forward week in week out.
For all we know Hull may have a couple of young half backs who they see as their future and bringing a quality player like Marshall in as a short term fix, may also be part of their education from a mighty fine player?
Benji Marshall is one of those special players. Like Edwards, Gregory, Slater, Thurston and Johnson, that I'm proud and thankful to have seen play live (if only once or twice). And I would love to have the chance to see him play again here. Hull's short-termism, though, does seem to be a bit of a thing.
Rumours Greenwood has signed for the Giants, has anyone heard anything?
Not heard anything but wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest and I think it would be a positive move for him. He can play the 80 minutes, yet here he’ll be lucky to get 30/40 mins a match, with Bateman, Isa, Farrell, Smithies and Partington all likely to be in front of him.
