As much as you don't want players to go back on their word/contract. It'd be great to keep Budgie, he's looking a little lighter, more mobile and has some confidence back.

Fully agree on Burgess. Talent has never been in question but his attitude has been by some and confidence by others. I think it’s been a mixture of the two, maybe a slack attitude lead to complacency or a loss of confidence but whatever it was, he’s ending his time here in the right way. His effort defensively these past few weeks has been great. He was flying about last night making repeat tackles and chasing kicks for his life.

He’s so talented and he’s one who could make us regret the decision to let him go. It’s his skills with the ball I always thought set him apart and you see last night, he takes a great catch for his try and then puts in a lovely little kick inside for the Smith try. Salford are getting a very talented player.

I just don't understand why Budgie wants to go there. All the traffic at Salford seems to be in the other direction.

When he signed I’ve no doubt they were a club on the up, they also probably offered him a very good wage.

Things falling away at the moment for them but certainly a club on an upward spiral when he agreed to go and 3rd choice winger at Wigan, who I’ve no doubt wouldn’t match his current deal.

At the time of him signing they still had Watson and you can’t help wonder if a few will rue their decision now. I actually think they’ll have a good squad again next year though. They’ve signed Burgess, Escare and Wells from us and all three are good players. Dan Sarginson has signed a two year extension as well. They’ll certainly need replacements for Dudson and Lussick though.

With Budgie going we have Bibby, who is a solid performer, if unspectacular. We are relying on Marshall and Manfredi to come back fully fit to provide real strike on the wings, which added together is a big ask. The best guy we have has one game left, hindsight is such a wonderful thing..

A colleague of mines brother plays for Warrington and he told me that all the talk around the HJ is that Warrington were after Hastings for when his contract expires at the end of 2021. Apparently Austin and Widdop are rumoured to be off.

I was told this about 24 hours after his extension for 2021 was announced.
I didn't think much of it as he has always said he wants to return to Oz at some stage.

However, I live in Warrington and while leaving Tesco car park, saw a one Jackson Hastings out front of the HJ going inside.

Surely the rumour cannot be true and if it was surely it would be a bit more discreet then literally walking him through the front door?

Wondered if there was some VT's being done for the Grand Final maybe at the HJ?

I work in Warrington and last week Tommy Makinson pulled up alongside me as I was driving home ( truth) past the ground,does that mean he's signing for them as well ? I thought we'd sort of agreed to give Hastings a break from all this bull**it and let him get on with playing for Wigan
