Someone with better knowledge might correct me here but the way I understand it we have roughly £2.1m to spend on our top 24 earners before dispensations. Now we know we have G.Burgess on a marquee allowance (£175k cap value), so make that £1.925m between the other 23. That makes an average of £84k for the other first teamers.
Burgess signed a 1 year 'prove it' contract in 2019 after poor form/injuries. Definitely up in the air at the time whether he would be a starter for that year. I'd guess at £80k or less given the above calculations. He was in a poor bargaining position.
Flower signed a 4 year deal when he had been our best prop for a long time. I don't know but I can believe he would be on £100k. I think they would have reasonably expected him to be our pack leader now.
Escare I think would have been at the lower end of that 23. His stock was higher than it is now but he was still only reserve full back. Can't see him being on even that £84k average, I'll guess at £60k.
