Post match interview with Hastings didn't encourage me to think he'd be staying. But surely we won't pay Smith and Field together in the halves? Not at first, at least.

We’ve got Escare Lockers Flower Shorrocks wells and joe burgess leaving next year and 1 or 2 others possibly. I know the first two are on big money and we’re trying to get rid of george burgess so there could be a fair bit of cap room available next year if only Bateman and field are done deals so far. I’d be trying my hardest to get Luke Thompson (swap with burgess would be even better)

At the moment, the first team squad has ten prop forwards which includes one who is totally unfit and can only have been signed on reputation, two who have been good servants to the club but at or near the end of their careers, one who was signed for this season but has hardly play as he is not produced any real form and one on loan at Wakefield.

Perhaps that is the reason why so many prop forwards were played against Huddersfield is because if Burgess, Clarke, Clubb, Flower and Navarette were to leave for various reasons, the squad is left with only Bullock, Bryne, Havard, Partington and Singleton, only two of which are older experienced prop forwards.

As the only prop forward of note in the reserve players is Kilner, it is obvious to me that a major assessment of the props is taking place for next season.

There is also the question of the loose forward position which has been filled during the season by Havard, Partington, Smithies in addition to O'Loughlin who has not played on regular basis because of injuries.

I am in no doubt whatsoever that a major overhaul of the squad will take place for next season, especially with the re-branding of the club.

Are you sure Escare was on big money? I saw one person on here who didn't like him write that he was on six figures then some people just seemed to take that as gospel. It wouldn't make a lot of sense IMO, at the time of signing that contract his stock was higher than it is now but he was still only our reserve fullback.

He’s not on six figures but he’s on close to 80k a year I’ve heard. Could be false but at the time of his new contract there was doubts about Sam Tomkins regaining his form and with escare start we thought he was worth a good contract

The economics of the game will be all over the place for a season or two. With no crowds a possibility, no reserves and the likelihood of the Championship not starting until Easter at the earliest few teams are going to want to be saddled with players who have nothing to do. Deciding on who stays and goes could become a lottery. I do not see that we are in too bad a situation for props with the exception of our big barnstorming highest earner. We can carry Clubb for one more season ,if needs be, I would not mind if Flower got another year but for our own sakes we need to sort Burgess out. The problem is that his choices are limited, either he retires or he is sorted out whilst with us because there really is nowhere else to go.

Something has to give somewhere. I'm already amazed we've retained French with Field, Bateman and Singleton coming in.

I would have thought Field will replace Hastings in the halves - completely different type of player but a huge running threat.
